Just spent the better part of the last hour trying to get a straight answer re how to sign up for the $49.99/ yr ATT plan.. on the NEW Kindle HD 8.9 just purchased.. large advertisement when starting up the machine directing you to the ATT site to get this promo... There are now thousands (I believe 90,000) people that just purchased the same device I did from QVC all getting this same message on their NEW Kindle HD's... I am just posting in hopes that it will assist others from wasting their time trying to get to the answer on where the darn PROMO code was and how to use it...3 amazon tech people had NO IDEA what I was talking about.
pretty disappointed right now..

As you were told in the other thread, this offer was for last year's Fire HD. It was an offer made by AT&T and Amazon.

It is not an offer made on the new currently sold Fires. You bought "new old stock" when you bought from QVC.

Just Peachy says:
You bought last year's version of the Fire. The ATT plan was a limited time deal.

I think your missing my point in posting this.. there are going to thousands of other people getting the same message on their new tablets that I got.
..... NO where does it say on the tablet that this was a time specific program...
... so this was in HOPES of giving them some information. so they didn't get the run around I did when asking about the promo. It took me calling 3 times to finally get a tech that KNEW what I was a talking about.

Your anger should be directed at QVC, for not being up front about the device they sold you. I understand that many people bought them, but the onus is always on the buyer when it comes to knowing what you're buying.

You need to warn *QVC* customers of this, not Kindle customers.

I am not angry................just disappointed..

I am quite aware of the version of tablet this is.. I have bought and own a number of Kindles. over the years (5 to be exact )) ....
..so I was aware.
.Meya I dont' think you are quite understanding what I am posting... and WHY..

Carbonbased says:
Once your HD connected to Wi-Fi, could you still find the ad under Offers?

If you have a AT&T cell phone, call them (not Amazon) about adding the tablet to your data share plan. It was $10 a month for me, but they're always offering some sort of incentive plan.

As for the $49.99 plan, it was only 250mb/month, which is gone in no time if you actually use it.

**Meya** says:
I do understand. But who are you trying to warn? Anyone who posts here with any regularity will know that the offer was over months ago.

New users may wander in, and they will be helped as that happens. But there is no fix for the issue. The devices sold are new, in that they have never been used, but they are last year's model. Plain and simple.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2013 12:39:19 PM PST
Yeah, if the devices have been sitting in boxes for these months, there's no way to change the opening "Promo!" screen, unfortunately.

This is why I'm leary of buying things from QVC, especially electronics.

Post here. There are a lot of people yakking about it.

I called ATT the plans they said they have is a DAY by DAY plan.. not really what I am looking for.. I don't' need a lot of data.. but wanted more than to buy one day at a time.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2013 1:24:54 PM PST
Not true. They have month-to-month plans, though.

AT&T:

@10-22-13:

Current AT&T rates are:

$15/mo - 250MB
$30/mo - 3GB
$50/mo - 5GB

I am just going by what the ATT sales gal told me... guess she had her wires crossed as well.
.. this is getting to be more than than a little aggravation.

. looks like back in the box and return to QVC.. will look for another 4g tablet .and carrier..

thanks for the INFO Pineapple... :)

R. D. Clark says:
Did QVC represent that the offer was still valid? Or mention it at all?

BTW, you will find that all tablets with 4g require data plans, and that the various carriers have the same plans for all tablets. the only real choices are (a) whether to buy the tablet from the carrier, with a contract, or (b) to buy a month-to-month plan, and if so for how much data.

Personally, I favor the latter; Verizon offers a $20/month plan for 1GB, which I find is enough as long as i don't try to stream video with it. I cancel it when I'm spending the month in town, when I have wifi all around me, and re-start it when I'm traveling.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2013 1:46:07 PM PST
Verizon also has the Share Everything plan, if you've already got a smartphone (or 2) in the house. I think a tablet is only like an extra $10 a month.

Carbonbased says:
Sorry you're disappointed. It's a nice tablet (posting from one now.)

If you don't mind saying, how much was it on qvc?

Pineapple's info is for an independent contract just for the tablet. On AT&T Mobile Share, there's a different CS number and they just need the SIM information to get the job done.

Dang it. :0/

Right. IIRC, ATT&T's cheapest monthly opt-in/out plan is $15 for only 250MB/mo.

I saw that Today's Special Value, and nowhere on the list of what came with the offer did it state that you would receive the first year of 4G for $49.99.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2013 2:30:13 PM PST
it was on his device

Not sure what you are disappointed about. QVC never advertised the AT&T plan as a feature when you bought it.
