Does kindle have any plans to add an app to be able to get books from sony. I have a sony ereader and would like to transfer my unread books to my kindle.

Why would Amazon want to do that? They would get no money for the books you get from Sony. Amazon is in business to sell books not make it so you can read competitors books on the Kindle.

Amazon has made no announcement about this, but most likely they won't.

You can side load the Sony app or another ePub reader on the Kindle Fire to read the books but you give up the comfort of e-ink.

Because they want people to stick with the kindle and purchase more as they upgrade them. I can get kindle books for my Sony even though I'm sure Sony would like for us to keep getting our books from them. I also own a Sony. I would like the option to read my books on either for outside use, the other for inside and nighttime. This was the reason I opted for the Sony to begin with. But I got the Kindle Fire because it was an android, which supposedly should be compatible with all kinds of software, including people's own programs. They shouldn't advertise it as an android if they are going to limit what we can do with it. Very disappointed. I had read before purchasing that I could use other site's books, including the libraries.

Why shouldn't they advertise it as Android if it is using Android??? You make no sense. There are other places to get apps besides Amazon. Do a google search.

I have done many google searches for this software. So far there is no app for downloading sony's ebooks. There have been claims of apps for it, but once you go there and try to download the app, I find out it doesn't work on the Kindle. And then I finally read the post on amazon that clearly states they don't allow that app. That's not what was stated when I purchased it. An android should be open for all apps, but this one isn't.

Here's the link where you can download the app to your computer and then sideload onto your fire.

It can be sideloaded onto your fire. I have sideloaded Barnes and Nobles Nook for android app and sony onto my fire. Just make sure that you activate "Allow Installation of Applications" in More Options and your set.

Thanks for the link. I didn;t even know Sony had an ereader. Just went and downloaded it and it works fine on my KF1. Another place to look for books. Although I must say I don;t like their reader app near as well as the Kindle one.

I tried downloading it and it didn't work on my kindle fire. YOu have a 1 after that for 1st generation, which is what I have. If so, I'll try again and see if I can't get it to download the books from sony that I already have.
