I am an avid writer as well as a reader. I type all the time on my qwerty keyboard--can I adjust and be as fast on a touchscreen? My 1 yr old laptop came w Windows 8 but I switched back to Windows 7 because the laptop did not have a touchscreen and Windows 8 otherwise had a steep learning curve, it seemed. I also never could find the time to self-teach myself my smartphone so sold it and went back to an old dumb flip phone. Are the FREE online classes to learn how to best use the Kindle tablet?---Dream: about 7", clear, color, books, email, office (WORD), telephone, tv and camera all in one....is this the one?
Thanks, scaredtomaketheleapbutwantingto

To your first question on typing speed, no. With an external Bluetooth keyboard you may do okay.

"...clear, color, books, email, office (WORD), telephone, tv and camera all in one..."

Nightmare!! How can I watch tv while I check my email? How can I answer the phone if I'm typing? What happens when a text comes through while I'm framing a photo?

God, no.

Continue to use your laptop for typing.
If you get a Fire it will be good for watching videos, reading books, playing games, and checking your email when you don't want to mess with the laptop.

It is NOT a telephone. It is NOT a camera. Even if you can do those things with it, those are not major features of the device.

I want to be able to mute the tv but still watch if I'm on a lame phone call. I want to ignore my phone if I'm typing an email. I want to take a photo of my cute pet without exiting some other app and having to navigate to a camera.

Also, Word is not available on the Fires. There are Word-like apps but not true Microsoft products.

I've struggled with how do I make a phone call and check my calendar on my phone at the same time. ugh

I *hate* that (as I described) my phone will pop with a New Text screen *WHILE* I've got the camera on. STOP THAT! (And no, there is no setting on this phone to make it NOT do that.)

If I've got the lens active on the screen, LEAVE IT! Clearly I'm USING it! Stupid design.

There is some way to have 2 things open at one time on my phone but I would have to put it on speaker phone and sometimes that is not a good thing to do.
