Walter J. says:
My new Kindle Fire HD has a problem when I send an email it always has the same sent date of 1/16/1970 which makes the email go to the bottom of the sent folder and hard to locate. The emails go through ok but something is causing this problem.

I don't have a Fire, so I'm only guessing, and posting to help keep your thread active so that someone more knowledgeable than me might answer.

With many electronic devices, it will default to the earliest date in the system if you haven't set the date/time on the device. So that's the first thing to check. Second thing is to reboot it. Hold the power button in the ON position for 30 seconds (time it, don't guess) and then release and press once more briefly to restart it. Give it a few minutes to load fully.

Third thing to check is a different router - go to a wifi network other than your home, and try sending an email from there.

And if all that doesn't work, you can always contact Kindle customer service. Click on the blue "help" link at the top of the page, then the big yellow "contact us" button on the right. Follow the instructions from there. Choose chat or phone, not email.

I have the same problem. Really annoying. Anyone found the solution ? (She asks, hopefully)

It's rather frustrating when people who've posted don't even bother to respond to suggestions as to possible solutions, isn't it, Marti? I see the thread's being tracked by three people, so you'd think that someone might bother to say what, if anything, they've tried.

If no-one responds, you may just have to contact Kindle CS.

I've been following as well but I guess there's no updates. CS told me they are looking into the matter but have not gotten back to me.

None of the suggestions worked. Still have the problem.

I didn't reply to you. I replied to Clare, wondering if perhaps she'd received any other information.

Clare says:
No. I haven't received any words of wisdom from customer services either.

So how long ago did you contact them, and what exactly did they say, Clare? And did you chat to them or talk on the phone?

Clare says:
Electronic contact some time ago. Having just had a baby and having a toddler too I'll be honest and say this isn't top on my list of things to do. Can I ask why your so interested Bookworm as you have stated you don't have Fire?

I have had the same problem since August: every Sent e-mail defaults to 17/1/1970. Why can Kindle not resolve it, or at least tell us they're trying?

Jesus123 says:
Yes, It's one of a few quirks with the email on the Kindle. The weird date problem also causes problems with finding emails and how they are sorted by dates. I have received no response to my inquiry. It would be nice as you say to hear that they are at least trying....

I have not been using my Kindle Fire HD for emails since I posted back in October. It is really annoying that Amazon haven't done anything to fix this (It cannot be THAT difficult!). Maybe we need to find a way to warn potential buyers that they would be better looking at other brands .... if sales are affected Amazon might put some more effort in ????

Same problem. All emails I send are dated 17.1.1970! Come on Amazon you need to sort this out!

Just found solution. Go to settings in email. Go to Calendar settings and turn default time zone on. This fixes it.

I had the same problem. The default time zone was on. I turned it off and on again and the problem seems to be solved. Thanks for the suggestion.

I turned off default time zone. Then sent an email .... at first the message was displayed at the top of my list of sent mail. Then I switched to another account (I had sent the email to my other email address) - it was received okay, but when I went back to my 'sent mail', the item in question had moved to the bottom of the list with that good old 1970 date! Am I missing something here??? I have tried a combination of turning the default time zone off /on off again ... currently it is off, but the problem remains. Aghhhh!
