Is there any way to make the font size larger when reading email? Unlike on the iPhone and in Fire Web pages, you can't just stretch the text to enlarge, nor is there a font size option as in books and newsstand material. The print is annoyingly small.

I'm having this issue with small fonts on email and some apps. Some apps have font adjustment, others don't. Need it on all apps.

Partial solution:
This will only help with reading an opened email. After opening an email, scroll down. A + and - tab will appear at the bottom of the screen. Press the + and the text will get bigger. Turn the screen horizontally so you don't have to scroll left to right to see the entire width of the page. Still can't get the main email screen to enlarge tho.

I'm using Yahoo mail......Actually, just touching the screen of an opened email brings up the + and - buttons at the bottom center of the screen.

It does not work with gmail. Fonts are tiny and no way to enlarge. Big problem for Kindle Fire.

The email app that comes with the Fire is like the one on my phone and there isn't a way to enlarge the font. However, if you were able to pick up the enhanced email app that was free several days ago, you can enlarge the font by the settings or pinching and pulling out. It is a much better app and has more settings than the regular email app. I'm not sure what the price is now, but it is well worth it. It also notifies you when you have mail and the regular email app didn't do that for me. Also, if you have Yahoo, you can download the Yahoo mail app and use that and you can hit the magnifying glass to enlarge but I had that on my phone and finally deleted it because it stopped worked a lot. I would highly recommend the enhanced email app. Good luck!

Before the above post was deleted, the poster asked for an update. Unfortunately, there's no plus or minus buttons when I open my email (Verizon). I looked at the enhanced email app, but it is now $9.99, which seems like an awful lot to fix what seems to be a flaw in the Kindle's own app, so I haven't purchased it yet. Any other suggestions?

I like my Kindle Fire. I do not like that it is almost impossible for me to read some emails on the native email app. This is a shame because in all other regards, this is s a very good email program. I have tried several other email apps, including Enhanced Email (I got it when it was free) and while it did provide some degree of enlargement through pinch, it was also annoying that it did not auto fit to screen, and any real serious enlargement caused me to have to scroll back and forth, line by line. Again, unusable. That app updated yesterday and now is not as stable as it once was. I don't know (again) what the update "did" but it is even less than it was.
The Kindle Fire email program simply needs to be updated and soon. Amazon needs to also understand that the majority of purchasers are going to be in an *ahem.., older age bracket and if we can not use this to see email, it is useless. I might suggest to them to use whatever native Android email app that comes with my HTC EVO 4G as it is amazing. I can enlarge the font and it still keeps everything on the screen, no scrolling needed. It is a very good program. amazon, are you listening? Hire THAT guy.
I hope that Amazon seriously fixes this soon, it will make a good device a great device and from conversations with a friend at an electronics store, it is the number one cause of returns. If I do not hear anything from them soon, I will most likely be returning mine as well.
If anyone does discover a fix, please take the time to post it here, so many people will be grateful.

Thank you for your post. I just bought the Fire and love it and the only drawback I've found is the inability to change the font with gmail. I've looked everywhere and done all kinds of searches with no luck. Did find the $9.99 EE app though --- bummer!

I think we need to call Amazon about this email app. All of us. I did that yesterday and got someone who told me he didn't think Amazon was considering any change on font size. He said he would pass my complaint on. There need to be a lot of complaints delivered to a live person.

B. Ruben says:
I contacted Amazon a few days by email about this, and the answer I got claims the font can be increased under the "view" menu. Obviously, that isn't the case. I will be calling too.

I downloaded a free email app (I'm at work and my Kindle is at home right now and can't think of the name) that looks sort of like a spider. Bad and good news: You can stretch the text to make it readable, but when I tried to send a reply to an email, it crashed repeatedly. So this isn't a great fix.

Just got the Fire and contacted Amazon through online chat about this isue. Got connected right away but no response out of my assigned rep for about 2 minutes upon first connecting. I had chat window open while I did something else and had just about decided to give up and close it when he appeared.
But the results are disappointing -- he says no way to increase font size.
He says that he'll report it to the Kindle Team for future improvements (which is usually the stock answer you get out of any tech support when there's no option for something - maybe if enough of us ask they'll do something.)

Here is transcript of the chat:

You are now connected to Jaya Paul from
Me:Is there really no way to increase font size in email?
Jaya Paul:Hello, my name is Paul. I'll be happy to help you today.
<waiting. waiting. then retyped question just in case it was missed initially.>
Me:Hi Jaya Is there really no way to increase font size in email?
<waiting. waiting. waiting. waiting>
paul? (realized it said his name was paul instead of what I took to be a first name before)
<waiting. waiting. waiting. waiting>
Jaya Paul:I'm sorry for the delay.
Are you referring to the email application on the Kindle Fire?
Jaya Paul:Let me check this out.
<waiting. waiting. waiting. waiting>

Thanks for being on hold.
I've checked and I'm sorry that as of now there isn't an option to change the font on the email application on the Kindle Fire.
Me:you say as of now. any hope of that coming in an update. really need it.
Jaya Paul:I'm unsure about that and I'll make sure to pass on your feedback to the Kindle Team for future improvements.
Me:ok this is intended as a gift for someone with eye problems. the whole point in it was the ability to increase font size but that seems to only be an option in books. quite disappointed and do hope it gets fixed.
Jaya Paul:I hope that this will be fixed soon.

YES! I found an app called Enhanced Email that allows you to change the font size for email - and it works perfectly for reading Gmail on my new Kindle Fire. Well worth $4.99. Try it, you'll love it!
