How to check out a library book AGAIN for kindle?

It doesn't sound like you actually did "re-check out and download." You are talking about your local public library, right? Not the KOLL?

Okay, so it did download but then when you try to open it, it says it's expired?

The first thing I'd try is rebooting the Kindle. If that doesn't resolve it, it sounds more like an Amazon thing than a library thing so I'd contact customer service. Maybe they can "reset" it, for lack of a better word.

I could be wrong but because the problem is occurring after he gets sent to Amazon to get it, since it is downloading, it seems like it's an Amazon thing, maybe just regarding the date. On an e-ink Kindle, I'd even try just setting back the date on the device.

I have to explain the issue 3 or 4 times and they still don't know what the issue is. The first time the problem got fixed but I think it was just from returning and deleting it and signing out several times. The second time, today, after being put on hold numerous times for research to be done the call failed, so it's still not fixed.
