Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Game Apps Rotation Problem

My Fire is new and I have downloaded a few games and other apps--numerous books. The rotation feature works fine while reading books, however, when I open a game app, the orientation of the screen flips upside down--every time. I've contacted Amazon and after trying all of their suggestions, it still doesn't work. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if you've found a fix.

Sydney,

The problem you're experiencing is probably a result either of (a) mis-coding of a particular app by the developer or (b) you are holding the KFHD upside down. If it's the former, you should let Amazon (and the developer) know about the problem. Hint: If it's an app problem, the reviews of the app may mention it. If that's not the problem, look at the screen of your KFHD. The camera lens should be on top (if in landscape) or the left side (if in portrait orientation).

Hey jsh1120,

Best news I've heard all day! I guess I have been holding it wrong in portrait and the apps are okay. Because of your feedback, I have also taken a harder look at my case and discovered that I was sent the wrong one; the openings for the right side of the kindle do not match. Thank you for your help!

Sydney,

Happy to be of assistance. I haven't seen the 8.9" cases but the early 7" cases from some 3rd party vendors, e.g. Marware, were unaccountably "upside down" with the charge ports located on the "spine" of the cover. Thus, the KFHD couldn't be charged with the cover closed. The 7" Amazon case has always been correctly designed but in the first few weeks there was a lot of confusion about just which way was up. :)
