broken kindle fire?

First, try rebooting it. Make sure it's charged, unplug it, then press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds (keep holding past the prompt to shut down). Release the button, then press power once again to restart.

If it still won't start, you'll need to contact customer support. Click the 'Help' link at the top of any Amazon site page, then press the 'Contact Us' button on the right.

@j. luna: Use the large orange Contact Us button to the right to contact Amazon Kindle CS and talk with them about it - use the live chat or the call back feature if you can, not email. If you can't see a Contact Us button on this page, then go to and contact CS. I advise using Live Chat or the Call Me Back feature and not email, as they will have your account details available to them immediately when you talk with them.

As for transferring content, you don't transfer from one device to another, you just register the new device to the same account as the old one and all Amazon content will be available for download to the new device. Content purchased elsewhere would have to be downloaded from wherever you bought it.

My Kindle Fire is connected to my WiFi, when I open Silk browser it asks "Restore Web Browser?" then almost instantly it exits out of the app. I also tried to remove apps from my devise through the coursel and it does nothing. I click on the App icon and it does nothing. My kindle won't update. When I enter an app it almost instantly exits. When I exit from the tool bar it goes black and blinks. I have rebooted many times by shutting it down also by holding the power button until it shuts off. After it has been rebooted I can enter an app for maybe a minuted before something pops up saying something about android something is not working. I don't know what to do. I have had this Kindle Fire HD 8.9" since Dec 22,2013. I have not dropped it. It's in a otter box. I didn't leave it in the car or in any super cold or super hot tems. It has not been wet.

What you do is go to the very top of the page and click on the word Help. Click on Kindle. Click on the Fire. Then, on the left side of the page, click on Contact Us. Pick any responses to the questions, then choose the "call me" function. The phone will ring immediately, and you'll be connected with a rep who can help you. Your Fire is still under warranty. They will take care of you.
