Go to Manage Your Kindle / Manage Your Devices, and click the "edit" beside "Subscribed." You'll be charged $15 to do so.

Thanks, It does not make me very happy, that it cost $15.00 to do this :(

Sheila (NJ) says:
Why? The cost of your kindle was offset by the ads. When you bought it you could have paid full price to get it without the ads.

How much do you pay for your local newspaper without ads?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 27, 2012 9:07:33 AM PST
You paid a subsidized price when you bought it. You have to pay that difference now if you want to eliminate the ads.

Thanks again. I guess I just didn't know when I bought the Kindle it came with adds. I am kind of new to all this.

Hanging my head in shame.....I actually like the ads and have bought plenty of items from the ads.

They are called "Special Offers" not ads so that could be where the confusion comes from.

That does seem to be a source of confusion. Though I cannot fathom what people think "special offers" might mean. "Your place or mine?" perhaps?

S. Griggs says:
So, I will ask this again, Do you remove " special offers" the same way as adds? Can you tell I do not like them :)

Special Offers is the Amazon term for advertising.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 27, 2012 10:28:12 AM PST
You can remove Special Offers for the $15, but you can not remove ads from your KF.

By ads, I mean ads like you might find on your computer.

Special Offers are things that Amazon sends out to your Kindle - right now I have 2 SO on my KK - 20 Great Reads for $2 each & Use your phone like you do at home - I think it's AT&T.

"ads" -- one "d", not two

Maybe they were adding the ads?

I was hating the "special offers" feature (I go back and forth between my
Kindle Fire 1st edition and the new Kindle Fire that had special offers). The offers have not appealed to me, so won't miss them.
Thanks to your easy to understand instructions, I have now paid the measly sum to remove the special offers. THANK YOU! No more confusion when using both tablets.

The 20 Great Reads for $2 This offer has been on my Kindle Paperwhite for two days now and I cannot find the offer. When I click on the email the offer sends it sends me to "Manage My Kindle" and there are no offers there.
