I have the original kindle fire...just purchased in July and I love it. Believe it or not I use it more for games and apps than reading. I also have a sony reader. I love my kindle fire so much that I want to upgrade but I am trying to decide if I should get the 7 inch or hold out for the 8.9 inch. What do the fellow kindle fire owners think??

Well, the 7" is cheaper and will be easier to carry. The 8.9" will have a bigger display. I'm waiting for the 8.9" since I already have a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

If you just want something easy to grab and carry around, the 7" size is ideal in my opinion. I also have an iPad, and the Samsung goes with me to more places than the iPad. If on the other hand I'm taking my backpack, then I often carry both (yeah, I'm a geek.)

I know that didn't really help. :)

It depends on how much weight/size you want. I've had the Fire since it first came out, and purchased the new HD 7" because I didn't want anything bigger or heavier. My friend ordered the 8.9" one partly because she wanted the 4G capability. I sort of wish the 7" came with the 4G capability, but it's obviously not a deal breaker for me.

I'm holding out for the 8.9". I have a kindle keyboard that I use mostly for reading and it goes with me everywhere. I want the bigger screen for watching movies, playing games, etc.

I got the 7" for my daughter (ssh, don't tell!) and the 8.9" for me. I prefer reading on an e-ink Kindle, and I have an android phone with a good-sized screen for portability, so the larger Fire seemed like the best fit.

But on the other hand is another 1.9 inches really worth 100.00 more??

To a lot of people the extra $100 for a bigger screen is worth it.

remember these mesurements are on the diagonal so an extra 1.9 inches diagonally is a big jump in screen area.

For $100 you get the larger screen, 1920x1200 vs 1280x800 screen, and a 1.5GHz vs 1.2GHz processor. Seems like a pretty good bargain if you have the budget for it.
