Downloading to Kindle Fire HDX in Australia?

Just asking again, I will be relocating "Down Under" to Australia from US soon and am wondering what I will be able to download to my Kindle? Will I be able to use the same features as here in states? I hear only books can be downloaded. What about music, games, etc? Thanks a lot!

Artist says:
Look on the Au site and you'll see what's available. It looks like the Fire is now supported in Au, so at least that's a good thing.

Honestly, did you think you'd get more/better info by asking those in the US than the Australians, or that asking again would somehow change the information in the Amazon help pages you were given a link to??

Your question here sounds somewhat different to your question in the Australian thread, which said you'd be "working in Australia very much this year", rather than "relocating to". But let me spell out your options:
1) You keep your US site registration (which you can do if you continue to hold a credit card with a US billing address), and keep your country of residence set as the US:- you'll be able to maintain your Fire exactly as you do now, but you won't have access to any more content than the Amazon help pages say.

2) you keep your US site registration but change your country of residence to Australia:- live content ceases to be available, prices of books will change, and in many cases a book itself may be different or unavailable (to purchase, that is; any books you've already bought remain in your archives), but you'll be able to search the US store and (mostly) get the Australian KDD at the same price.

3) you switch your registration to the Australian site: - you'll lose access to gift cards (AU doesn't have them yet), lose access to thousands of books (because the range is a lot smaller in the AU store), lose any subscriptions you currently have, and so on. The only upside would be that you're paying in Australian currency, which is a fairly dubious benefit.

No Australian kindler that I know has chosen to switch to the AU site; those who've found themselves doing it by accident have been so horrified at the limited content available that they've switched back again pretty quickly.

But don't take my word for it - go and have a look at the AU store, and see what's in the "shop by department" menu. Movies and music aren't even listed. Games, it depends on the game. We do have access to the app store now, but still not to anything like the extent of offerings in the US.

When will Prime be available in the Australian market? Or will it ever be? I feel that Amazon aren't really interested in non US markets, but happy enough to take our money. I have been tossing up between the iPad and the kindle but after reading these reviews the iPad might be the way to go

Does the iPad offer Prime?

Gee, no it doesn't...

Hmmm...... so I guess the benefit of it would just be the bigger price initial purchase and continued high purchase prices via the iStore?

Apparently so...
