I had to update the software on the tv(under the 'support' menu) and then do a factory reset of the tv.(it's under the 'support'/'self-diagnosis' menu)

Then I had to update the netflix app on the tv. I also did a reset on the kindle by holding ddown the power button for 20 seconds. Worked great after that. Good luck

As far as streaming movies, I believe you also have to be signed in on the Amazon Instant Video App on the TV before it will work. There is a thread I started quite a while back Titled "Samsung TV requirements for "Second Screen" and "Miracast" to work on the HDX?". You could try searching in the
"Search Customer Discussions" box over on the right side of this page if you want. Last I looked it was buried now on page 23 or something like that in the forum here. It had quite a bit of discussion and information on the SecondScreen and Miracast features of the HDX. Good luck.

Soulrider, you only need to use the Amazon App on your Smart TV or PS3/etc for Second Screen functionality. This even works on the 2013 FireHD. No streaming is involved with Second Screen; the video is played by the app on the TV, and the Fire just stays in sync with it through the network connection so that you can use X-Ray, play/pause, etc.

Streaming -- actually mirroring -- means that you see on the TV whatever is displayed on your Fire. On an HDX this requires Miracast (which goes by different names depending on your TV or add-on device), but "mirroring" is generally the key descriptive when you're looking for this functionality in your TV's owner's manual.
