I just took at look at latest turkey day sales ad from Staples and found out that they will have Kindle and Kindle Touch Black Friday sales: offering Kindle Touch for $99 with a $20 gift card. At this point, I would just want to cancel my preorder here at Amazon. But is there going to be any BF sales here. I would definitely like to see Amazon makes some move to save me from a trip to my local Staples on the Black Friday.

No, current Kindles will not be discounted on Black Friday. Stores offer you a gift card to get you into the store in order to buy more than just the Kindle. That's their decision, but Amazon doesn't have to match store gift card offers.

You're going to have to drag yourself out of the house if you want the $20 incentive.

Drag yourself out of the house, fight the crowds, and pay sales tax.

I was with you until the pay sales tax - you are supposed to pay sales tax even on Internet orders.

Sounds like fun!

In the same way that stabbing myself in the nose with a red-hot ice-pick sounded like fun until I tried it.

Supposed to, yes. Though I don't personally know anyone who does.

They'd have to give me a gift card for at least $1000 to get me into a store on Black Friday. I abhor shopping under the best of circumstances.

Hubby and I went shopping on Black Friday many years ago... so no, $20 is not an incentive for me to go back. I am off work that day and I will be playing Christmas carols and putting up my tree and decorations while happily drinking some kind of alcoholic beverage (probably those strawberry daquiri things from Seagram's, although cranberry would be nice) lol~

I agree. Although I usually will go out later in the day (once the crowd has died down some) if there are some things that are not "doorbuster" items but still worth it.

In New York, we pay sales tax through Amazon. Have for several years now.

But you could't drag me out to the stores on Black Friday for no amount of money. No how, no way. I love my Prime two-day delivery.

See, I love to shop, but I am with you - Black Friday is not an option. All those amateur "shoppers" - ugh.

*If* Amazon had the new Kindles available on a black Friday sale (but trust me, they won't), you would have to be glued to the computer and click very quickly (with all fingers and toes crossed) when it appeared to have any hope of getting one. So, go shopping. And post back and let us know if it was worth the $20. : )

Last year, they offered some K2s on Black Friday. The K3s were the latest generation, so they were not offering the most recent Kindles.

As I remember, they sold out in about 30 seconds.

When they show up at my door and ask for it I will pay it. :)

I've been to Walmart Black Friday two of the past 4 years. It was ... interesting, but when you are cash-strapped and have kids starting college and needing laptops and WM offers usable ones for $200 and the best prices you could find online were more than double that, you do what you have to.

I can't think of anything that would get me out this year, but I haven't looked at the WM BF flyer yet - won't be released until 12:01 am tonight. I've already picked up all the (refurbed) laptops I need for this year (one for me, one for DD whose laptop is dying - hope she makes it to Christmas or there will be one less surprise under the tree) and we don't care about most of the popular toys - I looked at Amazon's SO Bluray offer and the cheapest, after the discount, would have been about $60 and I decided I didn't want one that badly. So I have hopes I'll actually be able to go to sleep Thanksgiving night. ;)
