What do you mean by "Verizon messages"?

Posted on Dec 13, 2013 9:35:43 AM PST
Yes. When you set up your fire, use the following settings as provided by Verizon.

Please use our quick guided setup at verizon.com/emailassist or the quick overview below to manually make changes:

Server Current Setting New Setting SSL Enabled Port
POP3 Server incoming.verizon.net pop.verizon.net YES 995
SMTP Server outgoing.verizon.net smtp.verizon.net YES 465

TIPS:

For iOS, Android devices - Ensure Authentication method is set to "Password"
For all tablets and mobile devices - Restart your device after making the changes

Note - There are no setting changes when accessing verizon.net email via myverizon/webmail.

If you need additional assistance in updating your settings, you may:

Visit verizon.com/emailsettings for a general overview and step by step instructions
Use our In-Home Agent tool, if installed on your computer
Vist our online forum at forums.verizon.com for additional information

Hope this is helpful.

Verizon Messages are the Verizon phone texts that can be read across devices. There is no Fire app, but I found the .apk to download. It opened, I put in my phone number, and then the security code that was sent to my phone, and then it closed and won't work. I should be able to read and send texts as if from my phone with them. This is not email, but texts from phone. Thanks for asking and trying to help.

Loves To Read - thanks for all the information! You provided so much wonderful information and advice. But I'm not talking about emails but the texts from the phones - which Verizon Messages is about - reading texts across devises not just on your cell phone.

Good day, have you found an answer yet? I am able to use Verizon messages on my Acer tab and through the web, but the same thing happens to me that you stated happens on the Kindle.

Not really, Pleased Mom. I'm not talking email but texts from my phone through Verizon Messages. I'm glad to know it isn't just my fire. If you find an answer - please post.

Sheryl, the Kindle Fires are not cellular devices so they won't be able to receive phone texts.

Verizon Messages is an app for other devices such as tablets to use your Verizon phone texts on. Works on galaxy tabs. just can't get it working on my fire.

Have you checked Google? I googled it and found that several have tried and were unable to get it working, even in the XDA Dev forums some tried to sideload with 1mobile on a rooted kindle and could not get it working, so it sounds like you're out of luck unless a dev manages to get past the Amazon OS restrictions.

We are out of luck on this for the time being. I do love the app on my other tablet. I was hoping to stop using the Android tablet and rely on the Kindle HDX but I still have to use both in certain situations. I first found out Verizon Messages when I left my cell phone home one day. It was so great to be able to pick up conversations on my computer or tablet. Have a great holiday and new year!

DLee - thanks for the effort to try to find an answer. I'd looked but hoped I'd missed something. I agree completely with Pleased Mom - I was hoping to rely on the Kindle and "loose" a device. I won't give up the kindle so will keep everything within reach for the time being. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone and thanks again for all the work trying to help me solve my problem. This is the best group of strangers I've ever met.

One last thing, I can access verizon messages through the silk browser, so I created a bookmark to the page and now I can use it on the Kindle. There is always a way to do things.

I am so sorry that I just saw this message. I navigated to http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/products/verizon-messages.html from the Silk browswer, and on the page there was an option to go to web. I signed in with my verizon wireless account information and then I bookmarked that page and I remained signed in and received notifications when new messages arrived.

Hello, the app was not available from the Kindle app store, so I navigated to Verizon messages through the Silk browser. Please see the message I posted earlier about the steps. There are apps available for android, apple, and desktop but not Kindle (I use them all on my other devices and it is wonderful).
