I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but I did look online and also through the owners manual and cannot find the answer.

I know when you are watching a movie how to adjust the volume. However when I was playing Angry Birds tonight, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to adjust the volume. There was nothing to swipe on the top, and the only thing I could come up with was to totally mute it which isn't what I wanted either.

Can someone please help?

I pause Angry Birds. Then go back to the home page on the Fire. Then turn the sound down and go back to playing Angry Birds.

T Macisco,
When i play Angry Birds, there is always a thin gray bar at the bottom with a small white arrow pointing up in the middle. In the midst of the game, if I tap that white arrow, the lower bar comes up with the menu icon AND the upper bar comes down that has the cog wheel. I tap the cog wheel and the menu options come down, incl the sound slider.

Does yours Angry Birds on your Fire also have a thin gray bar at the bottom while playing?

I recently purchased a Kindle Fire for my wife as a Christmas gift from my local Best Buy Store. We find that the volume is very low. The Volume control setting is set to its highest level and you still cannot hear the sound... My $39.00 cell phone's volume is 100 times louder than the Kindle.

I understand that Amazon knew about this volume defect in October, but they continued to sell the Kindle Fire knowing that there was a defect with it. Why did Amazon allow their customers to purchase a defective product as Christmas gifts? Were they that hard up for sales, hoping that know one would notice there was a serious sound defect!!!

Q thank you so much! I had tapped on the bottom bar but never notice the top while playing. DUH!!!

Yes, it does. It ALWAYS has one except when you're actually at the home page.

I agree. It is such a disappointment. What kind of chance do we have for Amazon to correct this serious defect?

I have a question.......I noticed that this little megaphone kinda looking thing popped up beside the little wheel at the upper right hand corner beside the battery life and it has a little x beside of it. For the life of me I can not figure out what it is. The volume is on I can hear sounds...please help!!

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 26, 2012 10:58:08 AM PDT
I have the same thing, my kindle shows the megaphone but the notifications sounds are all the way down and I cannot find a way to get them all the way up.
B. Walker --> Go onto the top menu, --> + more --> Sounds --> Notification Sounds and try if you can turn the sound here all the way up.
I tried but everytime I go back it is all the way down again. i think this is why we have the x next to the megaphone all the time. It won't let me turn the notification sounds up at all.

Besides that, i have absolutely no sound playing Angry Birds.

When I put my volume all the way down u can hear the music playing like I only turned it down half way how do I fix it?

HuKnew says:
I had the same problem. Some video's simply were produced with low volume. The fix, buy Volume+ on the Appstore. Worked great for me. It will boost the volume of not only the line out but also the external speakers. Be careful though to not leave it on all the time. For the apps or videos that are produced with normal volume levels, this approach will overdrive the audio and potentially cause damage.

I also would like to know how to control the volume on my kindle fire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to Volume+, which looks like a good choice, there is also my simple and free Speaker Boost app.

Just got mine and volume was much too low. I went to music and then did a quick pull-down from the very top of the screen and this brought up the volume screen. Not very handy to get to! Good luck.

My volume wont work. I've downloaded apps but they all say that the volume is on silent, but it's really turned up all the way. The volume has always been fine though

My volume is out of control. I turn on the kindle and from the moment I turn it on the volume is displayed on the screen going up an down it takes a good 20 minutes before it stops. I'm supper annoyed and if that isn't bad enough if I'm switching to another app it starts all over again. HELP, PLEASE.

When listening to anything on my Kindle, the volume never stays up, I even have it set all the way up on the main settings. The volume only stays up for about 45 seconds, then I have to turn it back up. Any suggestions? Thank You

I would probably delete every free app (assuming you have some of those--I think we all do). Or I might even do a factory restore. Then add my apps back one at a time and see if the volume problem came back.
