I downloaded the Kindle app to my new ipad. Then I got a kindle book from my library and downloaded it through their Overdrive software, but I can't find where it went. It is not on my Kindle book app or my Overdrive app. What did I do wrong? What was I suppose to do? Thanks.

Did you download the kindle version of the book from your library? If so, it should be in your archives. Just open the kindle app and select archives.

If you downloaded the epub version, then you need to download the Overdrive for iPad app and get the book that way.

It might help if you told us what you did. I go the Overdrive website, find the book I want and then click the get it for kindle button which brings me to the Amazon page. I then select which Kindle to send it to.

Thank you for responding. We downloaded the Kindle app from iTunes to the iPad. The book does not appear in Archive books or on the Home page list of books of the Kindle app. In the Digital Library, under Checkouts, it shows the book as checked out and it says Kindle Book but it does not appear on any list of downloaded books. It also doesn't appear in Pending deliveries on my Amazon acct. Where else could it go?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2012 9:34:25 AM PST
I did go to the Overdrive website, found the book and then clicked to get it. I think I did not click the Kindle button because I did not go to the Amazon page and I did not select which Kindle to send it to. I obviously didn't realize I did it wrong and it must have just selected what was on the screen and sent it in the Kindle format but not to a specific Kindle app. Anyway of correcting this? I checked with my library and they just said I have to wait until the 2 wks or over and it expires, but I will not be able to see it.

You should still see it in the Overdrive app, then.

ETA: You have the Overdrive reader app, right? The Overdrive Media Console is a different thing. It's for audio.

October Surprise, one easy way to check is to go *on your computer* to your Manage Your Kindle page. When your list of books comes up, click on the drop-down menu after the word "View:" under the yellow "Your Kindle Library" heading. One of the options is "Loans."

When you click on that, you will see the title of any books that you've borrowed, either from your library, or through the Kindle Owners Lending Library, if you have both a Prime Membership and a Kindle.

Another silly question, October Surprise--you did actually REGISTER the iPad to your Amazon account from the Kindle app on the iPad?

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear in the book list on Overdrive either. It does show it was checked out on Digital Library as a Kindle book but it never appeared on the Kindle app or the Overdrive website. Thanks for responding. I think the book is in the netherland and gone.

It is not a silly question. I didn't think to do that until someone mentioned to me that I should and, yes, it is registered. Thanks for helping.

Okay, just to make sure we're on the same page here, I'm talking about the Overdrive for iPad app and not the Overdrive web site. You have that app and you checked there? Have you restarted the iPad?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2012 10:35:27 AM PST
Have you tried borrowing it again? If you picked something other than Kindle you should still be able to check out the Kindle version.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2012 10:35:57 AM PST
Yes. Although I just got the ipad, I did download an earlier book through Overdrive and read it. This is the second book I was trying to download and I think I didn't realize and it went through as a Kindle book. I didn't think it would be a problem because I did download the Kindle app for the ipad, but it never showed up there.

@ October, on the iPad's Kindle app, you checked the archive?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2012 10:51:53 AM PST
Have you synced your archive page on the iPad some books I have purchase an sent to kindle cloud reader will not show up until archive is synced

Thanks for your help. I checked but because I'm so new this is only the 1st Kindle book I was trying to download so there wasn't anything listed under my library. I guess when I can I'll try to get the book again.

If according to OD, you did check it out in the Kindle version, it would then send you to your Manage Your Kindle page. Did you go there and check? Maybe there was just some glitch that didn't go that one step but that's where it would be.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2012 11:08:24 AM PST
the library said i have to wait until it is expired before I can order it again. I will try again to see if it works with another book.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2012 11:13:25 AM PST
I'm resigned that it is gone, probably because of some glitch, but who knows. I'll wait and try it again. Thanks for your help.

We're trying to rule out things here. Did you look for it on the Manage Your Kindle page?

@ October Surprise

Good afternoon. There are some extra steps to getting a Kindle version of a book from the library. Where is shows up in your library as checked out you need to now download it. My library has a "Get for Kindle" button, your library may differ. Doing that step in your library will then open up a new tab or browser with the "Get Your Public Library Loan" page on for the book. On that page you have to now click on the "Get Library Book" on the right side of the screen. Now the book will be in your archives and sent to the Kindle or Kindle App you had selected in the drop down box under that button. Any other Kindle or Kindle App you have registered to your account will now be able to download it from the archives as well. But until you have done those final steps here on Amazon you haven't actually received the book even though you have it checked out at the library.

Hope this helped.

Yes, I did. I didn't even know about the Manage your Kindle page on Amazon. But I was directed there to check the Pending Deliveries in case it was there. It wasn't. I was also told to check the Books section and Search your library. Nothing there either. It is out there somewhere, but gone nevertheless.

I think your best bet now is to contact Kindle CS and give them a crack at it.
