So I somehow scratched my new Kindle Fire. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this? Minimize the scratch?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 30, 2011 1:07:54 PM PST
On the screen? Call customer service, they may replace it for you. It shouldn't scratch easily.

To contact Kindle Customer Service:
click on HELP,
click on KINDLE HELP, VideoTutorials, & TOOLS,
click on CONTACT US.
Choose the option best suited to where you are. CALL ME under the PHONE tab is great if available.
They will call you within minutes.

And I'd get a cover, if you're carrying it around with you.

I also noticed a small scratch on my Kindle Fire screen-about an inch and a half long, not very deep, I actually thought it was just a strand of hair at first. I didn't think it was a big deal at first (I didn't notice it when the screen was on and it didn't affect the functionality of the device at all) however, after a while, the "unsightliness" of it bothered me. My Kindle was barely 2 weeks old and I had spent nearly $40 on a nice cover to protect it, I didn't expect it to scratch so easily. I contacted Amazon Customer Service and they were beyond helpful. I explained the situation (small scratch on screen-I don't know how it got there-no, I didn't step on it) and within 5 minutes they had already put a new Kindle in the mail for me! Plus, they sent me a prepaid label to mail back the old one. Amazon has AWESOME customer service!

Contact customer service...the fire has Gorilla Glass and isn't supposed to scratch so easily.

A screen protector (for any tablet or phone) is always a worthwhile investment.

My Kindle Fire also scratched...I wondered if they would replace it. Do they replace all apps and books you have on your scratched one?
I have a nice case and am always careful with it...

Mine had a small scratch. I called in. They asked if I dropped it, or if I put a lot of pressure on the screen. I said no. They sent me a replacement with 1 day shipping.

Have a few scratches in mine too! I emailed and they responded immediately with a request to call. After a few minutes on the phone (and being asked some screening questions to likely determine if I had stepped on it or dropped it) they have a new one coming and a return label emailed. Love Amazon's customer service! It is often why I purchase from them over a comparable retailer.

If you get a replacement, all you do is register it to the same account and you can download the books and apps that you purchased on the account.

* runs and checks her Fire for scratches*

Whew, none that I can see. But I did order this case, Gumdrop Cases Drop Tech Series Case for Kindle Fire, Blackfor it. I like the fact that it has a hard plastic cover for the face of the Fire.

This is surprising. I must just be lucky. None on mine (yet!) either.

That's really a shame. Hope you all get replacements.

I found this forum after finding a scratch in my Kindle Fire. The customer service rep basically told me I must be using the Kindle wrong and it is user error. I thought it would last much longer than 3 months. I do have a cover but not a screen cover. Thankfully, I recently ordered a screen cover and I hope I don't get any other scratches in the meantime.

I found this forum the same way a couple of days ago. I received my new Fire by UPS the next day, which was yesterday. The customer service rep told me no at first because he didn't realize it was a Fire, once he understood that it wasn't one of the other Kindles it was no problem at all.

I barely use my Kindle Fire and it has a small scratch on it. It has never been dropped or anything of the sort. Gorilla glass seems to be more akin to precious china than it is scratch resistant. This post gave me hope so I called in about it & apparently I can send it in to be fixed for $100 or I can live with it. Definitely disappointed.

We also own an iPad & DID drop it & shattered the screen (our own mistake) and although Apple said it was only a one-time offer & they wouldn't be able to do so in the future, Apple replaced it (the entire iPad) for free. I guess you get what you pay for & I'm bummed about my brand-new Kindle Fire & the response I received from Amazon's Kindle Fire Customer Service.

This thread gave me hope when I found a fairly pronounced scratch on my Fire, despite its being stored in a protective case. Unfortunately, Amazon's response was that scratches are not covered under warranty. Disappointed.

My 1st Fire got a ding *smack* in the middle of the glass about a week after I got it. I suspect *someone* tried to use something inappropriate as a stylus. I knew it was my fault for letting small hands play Angry Birds on MY toy, so I resigned myself to live with it.

Fortunately ...or, unfortunately, depending on how you look at things... the charging port on that unit went bad about a month later, so I ended up getting a replacement, anyway.

Does it still work? Don't think they will replace it for abuse.

Yes it still works but also has some charging and freezing glitches
