I have a 20% off coupon code, the total cost will be $150 shipped after coupon and my gift card balance. I have loved my 7 inch Fire, should I upgrade to the bigger screen?

I purchased a refurbished 8.9" Kindle Fire HD and really love it. It has worked fine with no problems at all. I also got a case with a bluetooth keyboard to house it in which works really well. Go for it!

I should have mentioned that too, the sounds are terrific when viewing movies on the Kindle Fire HD. I'm using it now to record TV episodes with Droid TV which is available in the app store.

I am loving mine also. It has the one year warranty just like the new ones. Got the hubby one because he keeps nabbing mine. He has to wait until Christmas though. (Don't tell!)

Based on my experience and use, I'd say go for it. It's a great price and the larger screen is much better for videos, magazines, PDF's, etc. I owned an original Fire and a Nexus 7 before buying my 9" tablet. I use and enjoy the larger screen much more than the 7" tablets.

I too love my 8.9 HD. I am still amazed how light it feels (in its cover) compared to holding my original Fire (in it's cover). The sound is awesome, even better when using my earbuds. And, I read magazines, watch movies and TV shows, and read children's books & play games with my little grandson. I find the pictures/graphics/print clear/sharp and colors just brilliant. My original Fire was fantastic, but so is the Fire 8.9 HD. I certainly don't think you would be disappointed with this upgrade. I say, go for it!

You will love the 8.9 HD. I also have the 7 inch fire and you will be amazed at how much better the 8.9 is.

The bigger screen is much better for videos and web surfing. At that price, do it.

Geekbabe: I just purchased a refurbished 8.9 a week ago. At first I didn't like it as well as my HD7. It takes longer to charge as the battery is bigger. I think the touch screen works a little better on my 7". My 7" seems to have a little more volume. But, after using the 8.9 the 7" seems awfully tiny. The price and the guarantee are both good so I'm pretty happy with it.

I like the sound quality on my 7 inch Fire HD but was recently gifted with a Sol Republic Deck, a bluetooth speaker that sounds amazing when I pair it with my Fire. LOL, I watch free Prime movies on the porch with great stereo sound :)

One great things about the 8.9 inch Fire compared to the original, is that, for me at least, it is VERY readable outside in sunlight. And the original Fire is not. I'm not sure what they did to the screen, but I hardly ever use my e-ink kindles outside in the summer, because I just took the HD Fire, and also had the advantage of web and other features in the sun as well as reading. Now the newly released fires might be even better in this vein, but the 8.9 inch Fire has been a great ereader for me.

I've been happy with the 7 inch HD as a reader but since most of my reading is done in bed I bet the 8.9 inch will be wonderful as well. At any rate, I got the 8.9 along with a Poetic case for $154.09 shipped so I'm pretty excited. I wanted to get a new ipad but having the smaller Fire has convinced me of the benefits of the Amazon ecosystem. I've watched hundreds of dollars worth of free Prime movies, downloaded dozens of free books. Love my Kindles :)
