Bought as Gift but am getting emails about free books. How do I forward this?

If your friend has their own Amazon account, as they should if they are maintaining their own library of Kindle books, then they can sign up for whatever emails tey like using the email address associated with their account.

You are getting Kindle emails because you have an Amazon account and you, likewise, can subscribe or unsubscribe to Amazon promotional emails using the links at the bottom of the email itself.

My concern is that it sounds like, because you didn't buy it as a gift, the Kindle is actually registered to your own account, and thus any books your friend buys will be charged to your credit card (you'll get a confirmation email each time this happens).

If this isn't what you want, your friend will have to de-register the Kindle from your account and re-register it to their own.

When you deregister a Fire, it will delete all content from that device, so let the person know that you're about to do it if you gave them a Fire. If you gave them an e-ink Kindle, the books will remain on the device, but they will not be a part of the person's library any more, so once they delete the book from their device, it's gone.

Go to http://www.amazon.com/myk, click on Manage Your Devices, click Deregister.

Edited: The person will then have to register the Kindle to their own Amazon account.

If the books were free ones only, then no issue, when you friend deregisters it from your account and then reregisters it to their account, they'll just need to get the books again for themselves. If the books weren't free and the Kindle is on your account, you're paying for them, and there will be no way to transfer those books after the Kindle is switched to another account (again, content belongs to the Amazon account, not the Kindles).

Also contact customer service and see if you can get a refund on the books that were purchased, if they were not free ones. Use the contact us help button at the top of this page and follow the links.
