I installed Skype on my new KF HD I received as a gift and can make video calls to other people. I can see video of them and and hear them, but they can only hear me. They get no video feed and when I click on my video camera icon it asks if I want to share video, I click yes but nothing happens. Any solutions?

You just have to add them as a contact to enable your camera. Its for "security" reasons

I recently upgraded from a Kindle Fire to a Kindle Fire HD. The solitaire game I had on my old Kindle Fire was on my cloud and I transferred it over to my HD with no problem. Problem occurs when I am playing the game. At random times, the unit will make a sound, kind of like a short circuit or "glitch" type sound when I play the game. I never had this happen when I played the same game on my original Kindle Fire. I returned it to the store and they exchanged it for another new Kindle Fire HD. The problem is occurring again on this new HD unit. When I asked a tech person at the store why this is happening he couldn't give me a definitive answer. He said it sounded like an app problem. I also told him I had downloaded a different Solitaire game this morning (thinking it was a problem with the old game), but that as soon as I started the game, the sound occurred. I asked him if this could damage the unit and he couldn't give me an answer other than to say I might want to go on Google and see if I could get some answers there. He said I'm the only person who's come in with this problem. At this point I'm ready to turn this unit in for a non HD unit. Is there anywhere I can get an expert's answers to these questions without having to pay for it?

You gotta add the contacts on both devices. It is accurate. I call user error lol

just got my new kindle hd...main reason was to skype. There are a lot of problems reported on skype discussions (using it on kindle hd). I also can only make voice calls and yes I have added the person as a contact. Is this a known issue? If it doesn't work I'll be returning the kindle.

Have you switched your Skype to the front-facing camera? I had to do that before it worked.

Jake says:
After 3 calls (and an hour of time) with amazon support it still doesn't work. I can see other people, they can't see me. I get the message 'incoming video call. Person can't make the video call, enable your video..." but the icon of the little video camera always has a red line through it. I've stopped/started skype app and camera app; rebooted several times, and basically done all the troubleshooting steps they asked.

Hundreds of people are having this issue. It's not user error.

Is the Kindle Fire (non-HD) capable of Skype? Or do i have to get an HD version? Thank you.

C. S. Jones says:
The non-hd version doesn't have a camera or microphone so it would be text only.

i can't sign into my skype because the keyboard changes my small s to a capital S automatically and it won't allow me to keep the logon as a small
so i can't even log onto skype

Did you try adding each other to your contact list? It may be a security feature. I had this problem and someone suggested it in this forum. It worked.

I just installed Skype both on my home computer and the Fire HD. It seems to work on my Fire HD EXCEPT I can't hear the other person. He can hear me, and we can see eachother, but I can't hear him at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? I didn't see that particular problem in the forum. Thank you for any help.

that is happening to me now - it is changing my "i" to an "o". how did they fix it for you?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 14, 2013 8:49:39 AM PST
The exact same thing is happening to me when I use Skype -- I can't hear the other person. Everything else works fine. Raising the volume doesn't help at all....

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 14, 2013 9:18:42 AM PST
Solution to low volume on Skype -- delete SKYPE from your Fire HD and then reload SKYPE from the app store. Susan suggested this and it worked for me! YAY!!

i was having trouble with my skype on my kindle fire hd. Every time i sign in it says i have the wrong password. I changed my password and it still doesn't work. Works fine on my home laptop. So I thought i would remove it and then reinstall it. Now i see it on my apps, but when i touch it, nothing happens. I thought i would have to download it again, but nothing is happening. HELP. Anybody know what to do? THanks for any help.

I have the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. I can Skype and the other person can see and hear me but I can only hear them. I hope there is a simple fix for this?

In reply to an earlier post on May 9, 2013 9:31:24 AM PDT
Gail Henke says:
With all due respect many people are most likely just returning them since the problems have yet to be resolved. I use Skype too. I've done everything I've been told to do and as of yet I can not see the other party but I can hear them. They can see and hear me. I'm sorry everyone is having same and similar issues. I LOVE my Kindle Fire HD and believe th e bugs will get ironed out.
