When will the lighted screen come to the non-touch screen version?

I don't like and don't need a touch screen e-reader. The tactile buttons on the side of my basic Kindle work great. And I can grasp the thing with my thumb on the screen without it changing the page! Amazing.

Your guess is as good as anyone here. Amazon never tells anyone anything until they release it.

Well, you're an angry little prick aren't you. I didn't realize there were rules on what was to be discussed on the Amazon forums. Thanks for informing me master of topics.

Please ignore Fud- we all do.

He seems to derive enjoyment out of irritating people new to the forum.

Ah, thanks. I should have realized every forum has trolls.

James, I was going to wait to a lighted Kindle with physical buttons as I love my KK, but I recently bought myself the Paperwhite. I am really surprised how much I like it and that I don't miss the physical buttons...not even the page turn button which is the one I most most reluctant to give all. The bezel is wide enough for thumb resting without accidental page turning. The touch screen feels different that those on my iPhone and iPad...I don't find that a light accidental touch send things akimbo. It isn't a slick glass screen like those devices have. It has a very different feel-which for me on a dedicated e-reader is a good thing. Bottom line, if the light is important for you (it is for me) you can try the Paperwhite and return it within 30 days if you find it isn't right for you.

No need for that kind of reaction to Fud's post. Yes, he's rude, but you were rude in return.

I, too, would not mind seeing a lighted Kindle Keyboard model. I don't like touch-screen e-readers (I'm constantly flipping pages accidentally when I use my Fire to read, because of the way I hold the edge of it), and I also like the keyboard and the physical page-turn buttons.

I don't know about that. I probably should have been more rude.

You make a good point. I don't need the backlight very often so my current Kindle will stick around.
My main beef with the touchscreen is cost. If a version with buttons was cheaper I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
