Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" problems --HELP

I bought the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" 64GB when they were first released. It worked fine for a few days, then everytime I would open a book, it would stay open for 5 seconds then closed. This was all the books. I did a hard reset, held the on/off switch for 20 seconds, cleared out everything amazon told me and only got it to work by reset it to factory settings and signing back in. It worked for less than 5 days before it happened again. I then had to reset it again. This time it lasted for 2 days before I had to reset it for the 3rd time.
Amazon sent me a new device which I received today. I made sure that it updated fully, I signed in, and download some of my books. I went to read a book and I had the problem again. The only things the same between the 2 Kindles is the books on the device & the origami cover that I bought. I tried to read a book with and without the case.

I would appreciate any help that someone could get me. I will be contacting Amazon again on monday if I cannot figure this out.

Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Monks - I'd use the Mayday button so they can see this in action.

Monks - What is the version of the Kindle app on your HDX? Perhaps there was a batch (I've seen a few of these posts) that got an incorrect version.

Mine's version 7.2_1176287610 and works fine.

Monks - No, it doesn't. There's got to be something corrupted with your Kindle app on that device. I wonder if Mayday could send you a fresh version of the Kindle app's .apk file over the air? It's worth a try to ask them.

Thanks for your help. I contacted Mayday, who had me go over the phone to amazon customer service which is sending a help ticket to the developers team to look into it. I don't know if or what they can do but hopefully I will be able to read on my kindle someday soon.

I have few things 1. 2 year protection plan there 89.99,$99.99,$84.99,54.99,79.99,34.99 I ask which is the best one and no one come to me about this need to get only few days left. 2 want vacation quest. On ipad. 3. I lose on the Kindle use 499 coin to go farer. 4. Now I have voice and yellow lines on kindle can't get of. 5. I want MSN on the kindle I had it once now it gone? Just let you know I'am a dummy on this

I am having the same issue. Amazon sent me a new kindle HDX 8.9 only to have the same exact thing happen tonight (I had the first one 3 days and second one 2 days). After using the May day button yet again, tech support was able to fix the issues.

It does however take me back to where I was with no interference. Most annorring. Sometimes it seems like any movement of the device causes it to shutdown. I don't know. From all I'm reading here it looks like a recall is necessary, but I would not hold my breath for that to happen.

I also have a Kindle Fire HDX, had problems and had to send a few back, but the last one I received is so wonderful. Light weight, and it has a Mayday button, where I can talk to a live person. I am a Kindle Fan, that is why I stuck with getting the Kindle Fire HDX working properly.

If you call Kindle Support, this alerts them to other people that may be having the same problem, so they can fix it.

Then finally the picture blanked out. When I tried to reset this time, for a brief second while holding the power button the Amazon logo appeared, but on half the screen (the rest showed distorted snow). Now I don't get any picture at all, even though there is a glow indicating power is on. Interestingly, I had downloaded an "IHeartRadio" app that I set on clock radio feature, and that surprisingly still works. Though I'm not sure for how long.

My kindle Fire has a mind of its own. The screens change constantly. I'll be in one screen and it will zap me to a different screen. I've done a factory reset twice but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

I bought a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 for my wife and when she loads the words with friend app on the device it freezes up and will not let you do anything. She contacted amazon help and they walked her thru and could not help. They transferred us to tech support and the first person we talked too we could not under stand because he had such a strong foreign accent. We have been in contact with Tech support 3 times and still not solved the problem.
