When I try to go to the experimental browser it stops loading 3/4 of the way through and then an "application error" occurs. The page is stuck on April 4. What do I do?

Have you tried a restart? Just hold the power button down until the the screen goes black (ignore any messages), then hit the power button again.

I have done that many times, but the web page that loads (some obscure newspaper page) keeps appearing and it stops loading. The "application error" message appears.

You may need to reset your Silk browser.

1st Gen Fire:

* Go to your HOME page
* Gear Wheel (upper right) > More... > Applications
* Set upper drop-down filter menu to "All Applications"
* Swipe down to "Browser" (an Amazon symbol next to it)
* Under "Storage", "Clear Data"

Nothing will be lost or harmed by doing this, though you will lose your browser bookmarks and passwords.

You will need to reset some things in your Web Settings after doing this.

* Open the Web browser
* Click on the Menu icon (garage door icon) on the bottom bar
* Settings
* Re-enable Flash by setting it to "Always On" or "On Demand"
* Be sure JavaScript is still enabled
* Acceleration OFF

----------------------------------------------------

2nd Gen Fire or Fire HD:

* Go to your HOME page
* Swipe down from the top > More... > Applications > Installed Applications
* All Applications
* Scroll down to "Silk"
* Under "Storage", "Clear Data"

Nothing will be lost or harmed by doing this, though you will lose your browser bookmarks and passwords.

You will need to reset some things in your Web Settings after doing this.

Go to the Web tab > Settings and make sure these options are checked:
* Accelerate page loading
* Enable Flash Forward
* Load Images
* Enable JavaScript
* Prompt for Experimental Streaming Viewer

----------------------------------------------------

Fire HD2 and Fire HDX:

* Go to your HOME page
* Swipe down from the top > Settings > Applications > Manage All Applications
* Scroll down to "Silk"
* Under "Storage", "Clear Data"

Nothing will be lost or harmed by doing this, though you will lose your browser bookmarks and passwords.

You will need to reset some things in your Web Settings after doing this.

Go to the Web tab > Settings and make sure these options are checked:

Well, Thomas, it *is* experimental, has always been from the first, and is not particularly good or useful. That's just the way it is.

Oh. The experimental browser on the Paperwhite is only meant for browsing text based websites. Anything with graphics probably won't work.

Ok - so is there some way I can start over?

I just did some poking around on my PW. Try this - open the browser, tap the menu icon, and then tap settings. Clear history and cookies. Hopefully that will work.

I tried it. I thought it worked, but then the box appeared again that says -the selected application could not be started. Please try again.

Finally, it worked! I did what you suggested AND I typed in a different home page. Now it appears to be working. Thank you!

Fantastic! I have to admit I was out of ideas and was about to suggest calling cs.
