My Affair With Kindle

I've been spending most of my time in Mexico for 14 years and I'm a compulsive reader. I read in English and there were slim pickings. So, I bought a Kindle.

First, I was amazed when my Kindle Basic arrived in 36 hours. Okay, I met the UPS truck as it rolled into the depot but still, less than 36 hours from nowhere, Nevada, to Oaxaca, Mexico, is amazing.

I'd read about Kindle Customer Service but last week my Kindle slipped from my hand in the bathroom. I grabbed for it, didn't get it, but I did manage to bat the book against a sturdy glass shelf and a tile wall. The screen cracked, the case cracked, and the Kindle kept working. I contacted Customer Service. Thirty minutes later I'd order another Kindle Basic, $30 below retail cost, and Amazon paid shipping and import taxes. Absolutely, amazing.

UPS is also amazing. I ordered the Kindle Basic on April 23rd and it left the Amazon warehouse in Indiana on April 25th. I got it at 10 a.m. on the 27th. That's incredible and UPS and Amazon share the credit for getting the package in and out of Toluca in less than eight hours. Toluca is where the tax vampires lurk.

I am delighted with my Kindle and think Customer Servide is outstanding.

The Artist says:
I'm glad you're pleased with the Kindle, Patrick.

Since I've signed up for Prime, I see that they have the same amazing delivery time for all their other products, too. I recently made a purchase on Wednesday evening, and it arrived on Friday morning. On Thursday, I realized that I should have ordered one more item, so I went ahead and ordered it and it arrived Saturday. Sometimes I feel bad about how much it's costing Amazon to deliver my stuff when I do that, but I am buying a lot more from them since I've gotten Prime so we're both winning.

They have the best customer service I've ever dealt with.
