You will see it when and if you get it.

OMG, call the judges immediately!!!!!

They can't even approve the settlement for 6 months, since that's the amount of time allotted for appeals.

Try reading a newspaper (or an internet news site) once in while.

"overpriced book rebate"

Guessing I'm not going to get a rebate.. None of the ebooks I bought were overpriced... :(

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 15, 2013 7:07:45 PM PDT
@A. Singh: It can't be applied until the period for appeals has expired (6 months, AFAIK). Then the judge has to accept the terms of the settlement - and not even all of the publishers have agreed to that yet.

Of course not. No one knows right now. It's not going to be a lot of money so why worry about it? You will get it when you get it.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 15, 2013 7:42:12 PM PDT
To me it doesn't matter either way. It may be as small as my classmates.com check of $1.67 or something like that...... not worth begging around for. It will arrive when it does. If it does. If it doesn't I won't be worried but it appears many others are for more needy/wanting a nice huge refund.

The worst part about people not reading anything about it is that, when the settlement is finalized, we're going to be overrun on the forum by people whining about how little they got, since they think it's going to be a large amount for every single book they bought.

edited for typo

LOL..... I am going to predict 642 threads started saying "I should have/I deserved to get more" .... And then they will say...... "why is the kindle version not less than the HB/PB version" and then they will continue with "To top it off, I am a prime member and can only get one KOLL a month" What a rip off. ROFL

Jazzy_Jeff says:
In my opinion when these people purchased the books obviously they thought the price was right or they wouldn't have purchased them in the first place.

Artist says:
Not to forget "I have 1400 books in my library, why did I only get a 30 cent credit?!"

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 15, 2013 7:53:38 PM PDT
Well, I bought the book. The price was free but I bought it and I should get some kind of credit for that.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 15, 2013 7:56:33 PM PDT
Artist says:
Exactly. Or "If I had known it was only going to be 30 cents, I wouldn't have relied on the rebate!!!!!111!!!!

R. Wilde says:
"If I'd known there was going to be a rebate, I would have bought more books, so I should get a bigger rebate to correct for that."

Okay, maybe nobody will come out and say it... but you know some will be thinking it. :)

Artist says:
Or "If I had known it would only be 30 cents, I wouldn't have purchased the book!!!" even though when they bought the book, there was no DOJ investigation.

R. Wilde says:
Okay, if you want a simple answer... there is no "overpriced book rebate" planned.

The announced rebate is a result of the litigation regarding collusion... NOT book prices.

Besides, you did not ask a question. All you did was make an observation.

Or I got a bigger rebate from Apple. Damazon is shafting us.

Sue says:
The other complaint will be that you have to use the credit (no matter how small) had to be use on ebooks. I can hear the whining now.

I read that when the notice first came out about the rebate. So I can not use my rebate to buy a new PS4. Boo hoo!!!!

Posted on Mar 16, 2013 12:47:10 AM PDT
There is a DOJ site about it, but in my Ambienated state, I can't find it.

You can't do a simple Google search and you are calling us names?? Thanks for the laugh....

Well. Since she can't spell "simpletons," who knows how she spelled any Google search criteria should she have even tried that.

People who use chat-speak regarding books - prices or anything else - are ridiculous anyway, IMO.
