Have you recently performed a random act of kindness and if so, what was it and would you do it again?

Thanks for your start, Cat :)

Recently I did something at work that was not my responsibility. I would do it again as it was the best for a student. Of course I got yelled at for doing it.

In reply to an earlier post on May 27, 2014 7:13:41 PM PDT
It puzzles me every day why people would yell at someone for doing something nice or extra. I hope you also received some thanks and appreciation.

Thank you for the start :)

In reply to an earlier post on May 27, 2014 7:31:35 PM PDT
It's ok, the student really appreciated it and that is what really matters to me.

Thanks for the start, Cat.

Last week I was in line at McDonalds and there were a lot of kids there from the local high school. One guy was short 39 cents and went around trying to get change from his friends. I have the feeling he does this a lot because all the kids declined. So after I paid for my order I handed him 50 cents from my change and walked out. He called "thanks" and got back on line. I would do it again.

I remember years ago, before Easy Pass (for those of you not familiar with EZ pass, it is an electronic device on your windshield that registers you have gone through a toll, and debits your account; thus you no longer need cash or tokens) on Christmas Eve I was driving down to see my folks, and the traffic was very heavy. I was in line at one of the toll bridges, and when I got to the toll booth the person ahead of me had paid my toll. So further on down the toll road I did the same for the person behind me. It was fun!

@ Special ed teacher
Nice to see you, it has been a while, hope that all is going well in your life.
Nice to see that you act of kindness brought acknowledgement from several areas, even the yelling means that your kind act was noticed - keep up the good work

Hi Donna
I am wondering what type of dance class have you enrolled in, I am having wonderful pictures of you doing the Jitterbug or break dance - Have I guessed right ?

Thanks for the great start cat. I agree with Red, it's a great theme.

I love Tips story of paying for peoples toll fees!

I recently was also at KFC and bought a meal for the bloke who is always on the corner of the street, one of our many homeless people. I'm not sure if he liked that or would rather have had the money!
I have also occasionally been behind someone in the queue at the supermarket and paid for some item of food which they have put aside because they don't have enough money on them. My acts of kindness are mostly towards my grand children though:) I love buying them treats which they wouldn't have otherwise:)

Donna, love that you are going to dance classes with DH! I've often suggested that but to no avail. My DH looks as if he is boxing when he dances.....if he ever does! He would rather sit and watch with a beer in the hand!

In reply to an earlier post on May 27, 2014 10:35:31 PM PDT
Well, you are very optimistic Miss redandwhite! Our first lesson next month will be a private consultation. That is likely dance speak for "if we find that between the two of you there are four left feet, or we feel that the yelling will drown out the loud music you will not be invited back."
My daughter's goal is that we will discover a mutual love of salsa and latin dancing and have a hobby to share for the rest of our life.
My husband's goal is to somehow learn to distinguish the beat of the song, and to have one dance that can be a waltz, and one type of dance that goes with "all the other type of music."
My goal is that I walk into the dance studio, where Maksim from Dancing With The Stars sees me and whisks me away for private lessons.
I think that my husband has the most realistic expectations.

In reply to an earlier post on May 27, 2014 10:39:01 PM PDT
I am hoping that with a wedding happening that that will provide a short term goal for DH. That may be all that ends up out of it, and that's OK, at least we will have tried instead of talking about it for years. If DH would sit and watch with a beer, I'd be happy with that too, except that it evolves into complaining about being bored.

And I will make sure that on the island there is no need for panic buttons. Poor Sally, what a horrible experience. I am so glad that you were able to survive that attack and to heal afterwards, physically and otherwise. ((hugs))

Sally in SA says:
Well Donna, I hope your goal is the one realised! It would be truly great if it is your daughters goal though:)

Sally in SA says:
Thanks Donna! Unfortunately as long as my DH has a beer in the hand, he is seldom bored and loves to be the last to leave any party. We often have to be swept out by the cleaners!

@ Sally
Love your stories of helping out those in need, you always strike me as a very kind person, I have also bought food for the homeless people rather than giving them money (which I am sure would go towards a beer and not help them much) I have also bought a tin of food for their dogs, it is hard enough trying to keep going when you are homeless but their dogs are so faithful and give them so much reason to keep going.

Well folks, I am off to read a page or two. See you all in the morning :)

Sally in SA says:
That was something that struck me on my last visit to London. I was amazed that there were so many people sleeping in the streets with their dogs. That doesn't happen here. Our indiginous people don't really keep dogs as pets. They will have them for hunting but not as a pet.

We do have a trolley in our supermarket for donations of pet food for the SPCA which I do occasionally contribute towards. It's very expensive feeding my own animals though so I confess to only doing that occasionally:)
