This is the third post with the same question. Once is enough to get our attention, even if it takes a few minutes..

Like it has been said in a few post before this. Windlow XP may be too out of date to recognize the Kindles. You will have to update your OS to recognize them. The Kindles are too new for Windows XP

@Sue: Which posts have said that? If he connects the Fire to the computer and then unlocks the Fire, a new drive letter will be set up, and everything will be fine.

And don't even think of Windows98. DOS 1.1 is out, too. Oh, woe is me.

Check your hardware.
It requires USB 2.0.

TwoTooth says:
When you attach the Fire to an XP computer, it pops a message saying something to the effect "Drivers not found." Just cancel the message. Unless your computer is so old it doesn't have USB 2.0, the Fire should appear as a removable drive under My Computer. With the Fire, you have to swipe the start arrow on the Fire itself to complete the connection. I have connected the Fire successfully to two XP computers, as well as one running Vista and one running Windows 7. It's considerably less balky than my iPod Touch (which has more to do when it connects to a computer). If you really can't get XP to recognize the Fire, you need to contact amazon Customer Support; people on this forum are just fellow users.

Thanks for clarifying that John. I was told that XP is not capable of recognizing the Kindles.

My XP recognizes my Fire with no problems, just as it does my K1, my KK and my K basic.

Also you want to make sure that your Windows xp is fully updated.
