Has anyone created an Amazon account using a prepaid debit card? I bought the kindle fire for my daughter and do not want her to accidentally start purchasing apps tied to my checking account or credit card, but i would like to have the ability to tie the account to a prepaid card, and then when it's balance is zero, add another prepaid card.

I don't know about a prepaid debit card, but Amazon gift cards should take care of what you want to do.

Many have found this solution to work best for them.

When choosing a prepaid card, make sure it has an expiration date on it. Apparently that field is needed.

I personally set up a second checking account that has a minimal balance that I use for online purchases. It is a debit card. That is all I have tied to my account and it works just fine.

Just an FYI, Jennifer. Apparently to start purchasing apps, there needs to be a credit card assigned to the account.

I found this to be true also, have old account was going to keep separate for ebook purchases.

Sent gift card to that account, but one click for ebooks and apps requires card on account. AND, you can't remove card and keep purchasing.

Though pre paid cards do work well. Or, set up a separate PayPal account, get a debit card (cash back), and use that on her account (they come with expiration dates). Be sure to CANCEL BACK UP FUNDING!! Good luck.

Yeah well i guess my kids aren't perfect, but at least giving them access to their own funds teaches them a lesson on budgeting / spending money.
