I can't get my kindle to turn on after downloading more books

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 12, 2014 2:17:48 AM PDT
Try rebooting it.

Since you do not specify which Kindle you have, here are instructions for rebooting most models:

FOR THE FIRES:
Make sure it has at least a 50% charge. Unplug the Fire.
Hold the power button in for a full 30 seconds (count them). Disregard any messages to shut it down.
If it doesn't turn back on at the end of holding the button, press it once to turn it on.
The "kindle fire" screen will appear for a couple of minutes while it's coming back on.

FOR E-INK KINDLES:
For 2nd Generation, Keyboard Kindle, Basic $69 Kindle, Kindle Touch, Paperwhite
and Kindle DX:
Make sure it has at least a 50% charge. Unplug the Kindle.
Slide the power switch over (or press the power button) for a full 30 seconds (count them).
PUT IT DOWN AND DON'T TOUCH IT. It may take a few minutes to reboot.
Then turn on wireless and your books and Collections will repopulate.

Thank you. This worked! Question is, why did it happen? Did I do something to cause it?

My kindle fire hd 8.9" is almost new and this morning while I was viewing facebook, the shutdown screen came on and it shut down immedaitely. It will not come back on, even with following your instructions. A couple of times a picture that sort of looks like a battery comes on then goes off fast. My battery is full charge...just charged it this morning. I've hardly used this kindle and it is under warranty but I was hoping to find out what is wrong on here. Guess I need to contact Amazon and use that warranty.

my kindle fire wont charge. i had to reboot and now it wont charge. the charge is suddenly loose and wont stay in position. this is the 2nd kindle i have because this same thing happened to the first one and because it was still under warranty Amazon replaced it. Ive had this about 2 years now. Is this a problem with the kindles. if it werent for all the money ive spent on books i would drop kindle and go back to good old paperback. How do i fix this. Ive tried other charger and either it doesnt charge or its wiggly too. Help!
