Oh boy... there must be something in the water tonight... it's getting crazy in here.

Always something in the water here in Tenerife! lol

The warranty is one year. A certified refurbished kindle for $50 is a great deal.

You're not even posting on the right site, since you're talking about pounds instead of dollars. This is the US site, not the UK site.

No, you can't get cash for your gift card balance.

You can return to and reread your kindle books as often as you want. And you don't need to supply physical storage space for them. They won't yellow or get torn. My kindle keyboard is over 3 years old and still going strong. The next one you get may last 5 years or more.

Pedantic it is: $50 = 29.5 British Pounds, 29.67 Euro

People who work for amazon are identified as such by a badge under their name; no one posting on this thread so far works for amazon.
We see this all the time: "you don't agree with me, so you must work for amazon"

I guess it depends on how you take care of your Kindle. My Kindle Keyboard is 3 1/2 years old now and still going strong. I also have a Basic Kindle that is just over 2 years old and still works great.

I have an original Kindle from 2007. Works great.

My anecdotal example trumps yours.

That's the same thing other trolls say when people don't agree with them.

My K2 is over 4 years old. Still going strong. My KK is 3 years old next month. I use it every day. Maybe you didn't take care of your Kindle as well as you imagine you did. You do seem to have a perception problem.

I don't work for Amazon. I bought my KK in the fall of 2010 and other than the fact that it doesn't like to download books wirelessly any longer (I sideload), it still works fine. And it will continue to (knock wood!!;) until I can afford a PW - which is not quite yet! But I can still read on it without any issues. So that's another one over the "less than 2 years" limit.

At most, you should only believe you will get until the warranty ends & then hope for longer.

You got a year past the warranty. I know you didn't expect anything after a year of it being out of warranty & are quite grateful for Amazon's generous offer.

My KK is 3 1/2 years old, I have always treated it very gently & it has lasted well beyond the the warranty.

While I am sorry that yours lasted a shorter amount of time, what company will give you anything after a whole year of their merchandise being out warranty?

KessaJo says:
What? Other customers have had their Kindles longer than 2 years, so they must work for Amazon?

I will never understand why some people post on the Internet & expect everybody to agree with them & when they don't, they are wrong or work for the company or...

I think he's a troll. I already had him blocked, and he has nothing in his profile.

Again? These complaints are like the articles in women's magazines. Rinse, recycle, reuse.

Loz says:
People really do have no idea how technology is these days! My KK is 2/12 years old, still going strong. I'd be annoyed had it crapped out after 6 or so months, but if it dies today I'll mourn and go buy another kindle. Not come on here and whine that it's ONLY lasted 2 years and that Amazon should give me a replacement for free!
