I'm about to upgrade from the K2i to a Paperwhite, and will be giving the K2i to my husband, and keeping both on the same account. I currently use a password to open my kindle after I wake it. Am I correct in thinking that once I get my new kindle I'll re-register the old one in my husbands name so that he can decide if he wants to use a password or not?

If you want it to stay on the same account, all you need to do is to change his name on it using the Edit link on the Manage Your Devices section of the Manage Your Kindle page on the website. he can either use the same password to wake it or change it or turn the password off.

Do not change the registration, or you will probably set up a second account.

John, I'll do that once I get my new kindle, and thank you for your quick response.

You will love the new paperwhite. The k2i will have felt like holding a brick compared to your new unit. I have/had a k2i a kindle keyboard...and now the new paperwhite. The paperwhite is amazing! It trumps the previous models.
