My kindle for pc keeps crashing...

Let's start with what operating system is on your PC. I know it's Windows but which one? When you say the app is crashing, exactly what do you mean? Does it take Windows to the blue screen? Or is it some other issue?

FYI - People here are running this app on all versions of Windows from XP thru Win 7 with no issues. It could be a compatability issue between software programs. It could be corrupt files. I'm assuming, but please confirm that when you uninstalled, you rebooted (turned off) the computer and then turned off your security software before re-installing? How old is your operating system (in other words, when was the last time that you reinstalled Windows or took your computer back to factory original)?

I was having issues with a number of books that would not open. I tried the uninstall and reinstall dance as well as unregister and re-register the app. What resolved the issue was returning my PC to factory original. Obviously some Windows files became corrupt over time.

A quicker solution for you may be to contact Kindle tech support. They may have some tricks that will resolve the issue. Click on help on the top of this page and then contact us button on the next page

Unistalled, turned off, reinstalled, and again the same problem.... Not sure it could be a compatibility problem because program worked fine for over a month and haven´t added any programs since... Already deregistered also... Thanks for your advice though... will try contacting tech support.

I have Windows Vista. Bought a textbook yesterday and it installed to Kindle for PC - then the program started crashing. Seems to happen everytime I "flip" between pages. I agree with others that Amazon really needs to step up their Kindle for PC software - it could use many enhancements.

Also, do you have a lot of books Maria? Mine started crashing after about 10000 titles.

msconfig hide all ms servies and disable all the program and see if that would work nothing. try to uninstall and reinstall... still nothing. call Microsoft and they said its the OS that is corrupted... why do I feel they didn't know what to do and just said the hell with it and Kindle said it is a Microsoft issue.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling also, but it doesn't help. Glad to know I'm not alone...I have just stopped using it and read from my kindle, until this problem is solved.

Mine was doing the same thing while i was trying to download all my archived books. I had gotten to a Kresley Cole book and it kept crashing. So, I started from the bottom and went upward. Everything worked fine until I got to that same Kresley Cole book, and then it crashed again when I tried to download it.

At least i got the rest of them downloaded.

I tried going into my Amazon digital account to tell it to send to my Kindle for PC, but nothing happened and I still can't download that one book.

So, maybe if you skip the book you are trying to download and go on to the next one, it might work.

I was going to say maybe it is that one book on yours. Some Amazon books are not compatible with all Kindle devices. (I felt real stupid for contacting amazon because it wouldn't let me have a book).

I didn't have to uninstall and reinstall. I just right clicked and went to "Troubleshoot Compatibility" and it brought up the window and suggested a new compatibility setting. I told it to save those settings and open the program, and it worked just fine after that. Some people say that you have to do this every time you open it, but apparently if you go into your window's programs menu and do the compatibility troubleshooting from there it will apply whenever you open the Kindle for PC app.
