Has anyone had a warning that thir kindle memory is full and would have to remove books from their kindle, even though they have plenty of disc space on their kindle? I thought the K2 was supposed to hold 1500 books, not just 400.

Do you have any MP3s or Audible content? They take a good bit of space.

It has happened to me on both my DX and K2. I even get emails from Amazon explaining how to delete a book.

It seems to me that there are two memory areas ... the one where books and other content are stored (the PC equivalent of a hard drive) and the RAM memory. The RAM is used to cache a web page or in indexing.

You can try HOME MENU SETTING MENU RESTART to clear the RAM.

I had that happen to me a couple times on my K2 before the 2.5 update. I ended up having to do a factory reset to get things working again. Was a pain in the behind but it did solve the problem!

Did you press the Menu key and look at the actual number in the upper left corner?

If it's looks like you have a lot of space left, maybe a restart would clear it up.

I have less than 700 books on my Kindle and am getting the out of memory message. When I do the menu, it shows that I have 0 MB left. Restarting doesn't change that. I tried looking to clear the RAM per Beth Sexton's message, but I don't have a menu restart command in the K3. Any other ideas? I thought we were supposed to be able to have 3500 books on these devices? I'm not even close to that.

I've seen a couple posts on this in the past, and it turned out there was a single file that was taking up the memory, either because it really was that big, or because it was corrupted in some way that made it affect the accuracy of the memory. If it's a recent occurrence, you may want to delete some recent files and see if that clears it up. Otherwise, call CS.

HOME button, MENU button, select Settings, MENU button, select Restart

If it is showing 0 MB available then something else may be wrong. Are you comfortable hooking it up to USB and looking at the size of your folders? Do you some large files like MP3s or PDFs?

Any audiobooks on your Kindle? Those are huge, especially the ones not downloaded from Audible.

No audiobooks or MP3s. Just ebooks, all mobis or azws. Talked to customer service and I had to move ebooks off the Kindle. As I was moving them off, I didn't see any that were super large. Everything under a MB. I'm still stumped how they took up so much space on the Kindle.

You can plug it in to your computer with the USB, and go to "My Computer", find the kindle, then check the documents folder. I did this not too long ago and discovered that a "Complete Works of..." book I recently purchased was close to 20MB. I made a separate collection called 10+ for any book over 10MB, and I only keep those on my kindle if I'm planning to read them in the near future. While you are here, look for any partial files - they will have a strange file type: something like prtldump. You can delete those.

Also, I tried putting pictures on not long ago, and when I ran out of room, I realized a couple pictures were pretty big.

Another way to check on your disk usage in the Kindle is this: when you plug it in to the computer, go to My Computer, and you should see the kindle listed. Right click on it, and choose properties. That will show you how much is being used as well.

I have only had my Kindle Paperwhite for 2 months and it is doing this. I only have about 30 books on it and no audiobooks. When i plug it into my computer and look at the memory, it says it is only half full. Why is this happeneing? I am so pissed off :/
