Reading, Music, and Movies have always been a passion for me....
One of the things that I do when I read a book is to "picture" it in
my head. The landscape, the characters, all of the things that you would "See"
in a movie. So This brings to mind how often a book is made into a movie..

Today's discussion will be What are some of the books that you have read that have been made into a movie.. Which did you like better, the book,(what you pictured in your head) or the movie, the directors vision..

Also, is there a song that reminds you of the movie and every time you hear it you "see" it in your mind?

I guess that the most recent movie/book that I have experenced is the Hunger Games ...... I was engrossed in the books, I couldn't put them down.... I had to know what was going to happen next.. What I visualized was much bloodier thanthey showed in the movie..
I thought that for a starving district most of the people, at least the main ones really didn't look very hungry..
I thought Peeta was a small weakling of a man but I guess bread in district twelve is heavy, or maybe the bags of flour.. Cause he sure looked like he did some weight lifting..
Overall, I liked the book mostly for the added detail that there just isn't time to put into a movie..

I was cleaning them..The ones at the hospital.. I have been neglecting my hallways.. They are a mess.. But they are all done now and my boss would be pleased if he were to come to my building tomorrow.. (all the snow and dirt that people track in).

I have to say I am very impressed. This is true dedication to FB&C when you are using your breaks at work to start the thread. Most people would be putting their feet up and getting something to eat and drink before going back to work. Not to mention cleaning floors which some might consider back breaking work! No wonder your hip is hurting. You need to be laying on the beach on some tropical island with hunky men bringing you the drink of your choice and rubbing sunscreen on your back. Just sayin!

FROM MY WISHLIST

Wild Night Is Calling

Torn Souls
This book is dedicated to all the children who have lost their lives from being bullied and the one who will find the strength and courage to continue on.....The unspeakable acts of bullying can destroy a life. So many children are affected in the world and together we can make a difference. Let's be the change we want to see in the world...

Julia Stone's life has been turned upside down ever since her parents decided to move out of the country and into the city. The life she knew was gone and starting over was something she wasn't prepared for. The thought of a new school, new teachers and even new friends was terrifying, but after a few weeks things didn't seem all that bad. Julia had met a boy and his name was Alex. He wasn't a jock, he wasn't even the smartest kid in school, but he was nice and he made her laugh. Alex and Julia hung out all the time, eventually becoming best friends. They even made a pact never to keep secrets from each other, but for Julia it was harder than she thought. She had a secret that was destroying the very cord of her soul. Her life as a teenager was being ripped apart by the kids in her school. Julia was being bullied mentally and physically. The thought of going through the next three years in high school being bullied continuously wasn't something she was prepared to do. The choice was simple, and she wasn't about to do it alone.

In Your Dreams
Sixteen-year-old Zara "Zip" McKee lives for three things: basketball, books, and bailing out of tiny Titusville, Illinois, where the junior high and high school are in the same building and everyone's known everyone else since birth. But when Kieran Lanier moves to town and passes out on her desk on his first day at school, Zip's life gets complicated in a way she never dreamed.

Kieran has narcolepsy, and although he sometimes struggles to stay awake, he has no trouble capturing Zip's heart and trusting her with his most guarded secret--he sees bits and pieces of the future in his dreams.

But just when Zip thinks that maybe she can handle having a boyfriend who sees things before they happen, her budding relationship with Kieran gets a jolt when Kieran's parents reveal that his sleeping disorder is not what it seems and may be putting them in harm's way. And when Zip begins to have unsettling dreams, she must decide if she can live with knowing the future in advance when she's afraid of what might happen.

Stone of Destiny
Through an onslaught of gunfire a well known professor leaps to his death off the mighty Irish Cliffs of Moher. Discovering a buried secret was his last fruitless act; keeping hidden a far greater secret, a secret concealed by the Queen of England herself, was his sacrificial intention.

As cogs drop into play throughout the United Kingdom a young American in London finds himself caught up in the world's greatest unknown conspiracy. With the life of his grandfather on the line, and the legitimacy of the British royal family in question, Trevor Emerson races against time and history in his shared quest to find the Stone of Destiny.

From Edinburgh Castle to Piccadilly Circus to King Arthur's ancient Isle of Avalon, join our heroes down the rabbit hole of royalty where the right secret, sufficiently veiled, can ensure the lifelong reaping of billions of dollars, and worse, the lifelong ruling over billions of lives. Is the Queen of England playing the world for a con? Where is the Stone of Destiny? To answer one question is to answer the other.

Reunion: A Search for Ancestors
Where do I come from? That question sets Ryan Littrell on a fascinating journey that crosses centuries and miles.

An anonymous letter reveals the first clues about his family story, and soon those clues lead to country graveyards, long-lost cousins, and a shocking DNA discovery. And as one hint follows the next, he uncovers his place in a tragic struggle--a tale of heartbreak, betrayal, and unfailing strength.

A real-life account, Reunion shows how our ancestors are still a part of us, and how our story began long before we were even born.

Caramel and Magnolias
Crushed by a broken heart ten years ago, Cleo Tanner walked away from her acting dreams and now leads a quiet, secluded life in Seattle. Sylvia, her best friend from college, is trapped in a loveless marriage, distraught by her inability to conceive a child - until an adoption agency owner in relentless pursuit of Cleo offers to help.

Just as Sylvia begins to experience a profound love that only a mother can feel, a detective approaches Cleo with disturbing questions about the adoption agency. Determined to protect her friend, Cleo jumps into a dangerous investigation that forces her to confront the ghosts of her past.

Bestselling author Tess Thompson, whose debut novel Riversong touched the hearts of readers worldwide, delivers a captivating and suspenseful tale of the possibilities that await us in life and in love - if we can find the courage to get off the sidelines.

A toast to friendship, motherhood, mended hearts and new beginnings, Caramel and Magnolias reminds us it's never too late to reawaken the heart.

Blood Run - The Complete Trilogy - First Promise, Two Riders, Last Chance
**The Complete Blood Run Series!***
All Three Books: First Promise, Two Riders, Last Chance

Blood Run - First Promise
It is 1985 and the United States is reeling from a disease that has taken huge, bloody bites out of the country as people are changed into vampires. The survivors have grouped together in remote outposts and the National Guard is the lifeline that runs between the outposts, bringing news and supplies.
In Wereburg, New York, a young woman named Destiny Riser has lost her parents in the plague but saved her little brother, Chance. But the outpost she brings him to is still young and learning and in an accident of fate, it is ravaged by vampires. Destiny sees her brother bit and changed and from that moment on, rechristens herself `Promise' and vows to release Chance from his nightmare, nighttime existence.
With the assistance of her black horse, Ash, she combs the barren forests surrounding Wereburg and even her old development, Willow's End, searching for Chance; desperate to end his misery. But then the National Guard brings a stranger to Wereburg, a man who is purportedly a fabled `half and half'-someone who has been bit but who has at least a partial immunity to the disease. That man will change everything that Promise believes.

A bond forms between Promise and Peter and she sees a different possibility for her lost and changed baby brother...she sees the possibility of a cure.
In a desperate attempt to save her brother, Promise and Peter must take a dangerous ride to the army base three states away where they are working on the cure.
Promise has a final chance to save her baby brother from the vampire disease. But can Peter, a half and half, her friends Mark and Lea, and even the National Guard help her with the impossible?

Sandy, the book is always better than the movie. One that come to mind is The Shining, Presumed Innocent with Harrison Ford, great book, good movie. Julia and Julie was the exception, great movie, ok book.

When I hear Moon River I always think of Breakfast at Tiffany's. When I hear I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor I always think of The Replacements.

Lately I've been just getting books on my wishlist that have come up. But thanks NC Kathy I picked up most of your selections as today nothing from my WL. I haven't been around much except at the beginning of the start because since Friday I've got my days and nights mixed up and by the time I do wake up the thread is daunting. Also out of the 37 books that I've read so far this year 33 were from the library. So much for reading from my TBR pile. lol

Sandy's question: last movie I saw was THG also and I liked the books better. I'm curious about Beautiful Creatures, Ender's Game and World War Z that are coming out though. I might not read World War Z until I see the movie and I've read Enders Game so long ago that I think the movie might not be bad (maybe). I did that with Relic and almost didn't read the books but then I wouldn't have enjoyed the Pendergast books.
