My husband has recently purchased a kindle fire HD and wants to sell his old kindle keyboard wifi. How does he deactivate the old one in order for the new owner to start from scratch and will he lose any of the books from his new device as they are both registered to the same account
Thank you

He can go to his Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon to deactivate the KK.

He will need to delete each eBook off the KK before giving it away.

One because he agreed to this & 2 because he will lose one of his licenses for any eBook that is left on the KK.

EBooks belong to the account, so your husband will not lose any of his eBooks from his new device, unless of course, he deregisters the KFHD, but then he would just have to load them back on when he Registers it back onto the account.

It would probably be easiest for him to reset his KK to factory settings - that should deregister the Kindle and delete the books off the device, without him having to delete every book manually. It's somewhere in the menu/settings.

Thank you for that, neither of us are very technically minded :)

I'm fairly sure it's menu/settings/menu and then scroll through. Not easy to find unless you're used to guessing that the menu that appears is different when in different areas of the kindle.

Of course, that makes it hard to do by mistake, too :-)

Before he sells the Kindle Keyboard make sure your husband likes reading on the Fire. The battery will have to be charged daily and it is a different experience because of the screen. It is also nice to have a back up in case something goes wrong with the Fire.

Yes, thank you, hadn't thought of that :)

Yes a factory reset would probably be the best solution.
It shouldn't effect his library.
Removing each book manually is not the best solution.

Yes, for sure what Jazxy says! I have an iPad, but all my daily book reading is done on my Paperwhite.
