Was checking the press release info and came across this comment.

The 12-session AT&T 4G data package includes 250MB a session of data, a $10 Amazon Appstore for Android credit and 20GB of Amazon CloudDrive, all for a one-time payment of only $49.99. There are no monthly fees or annual contracts. The $49.99 package is only available for the first year of service

What happens next year? Hate to buy the Kindle HD with 4g only to have it be no good next year. If that is the case I might as well go with the wi-fi only option and save self serval hundred dollars. Can anyone tell me how to find out how it will work later on?

After the first year you'd deal directly with AT&T for cellular conectivity. Current plans and prices are available on their site.

No one knows for sure, as you would have found out if you had used the search box on the right.

Since the Fire uses AT&T service, you can go to the AT&T website and look at the prices for tablet plans. Whether Amazon will negotiate a better deal for the Fire next year is open to discussion.

No cell phone company (that I'm aware of) will tell you what plans they will offer next year. AT&T is no exception.

If you don't like the plan next year, you can always tether the Fire to your phone and use whatever plan you prefer.

I guess my main concern is not really cost of service next year as much as fact that I only deal with prepaid phone services such as boostmobile. My credit isnt the greatest so I advoid the plan carriers. So my fear is that I won't be able to get a plan though att. Thanks for info though going to call att and see if I would be able to even get a plan though them before I make a decisssion.

J, I hope you realize that 250 MB a month is not a lot of data. Make sure you really need the 4G piece...

It's a plan, not a commitment.

I know its not alot. I read alot online, like on fiction press so 250 should be enough. Granted I know nothing about how data plans work. I was able to get a hold of att and they have prepaid plans so That answers my fears. Thanks for all you guys help.
