I just read this article, http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/08/advertisements-may-lead-to-a-cheaper-kindle-fire/, and have a strong opinion... I LOVE my Kindle. I could be a commercial for Kindle Fire. BUT, if advertisements are added - I will toss it and find another tool for what I want.

Any other comments out there on this?

Artist says:
I have a KK with ads and it doesn't bother me at all. They're only sleep screens and a 1/2" band at the bottom of the home pages. How often do you look at those?

I'd rather see an ad for AT&T 4G on my KK than Emily Skeletor on my K2!

The ads will be on one of the new ones being announced next week.
According to the Wall St Journal the ads will appear briefly when the device is woken up.

They have been selling ad subsidized kindles for over a year.

It probably wont be retroactive to current Fires. Nothing to get in a worry about.

I am fairly confidant that they will not add ads to existing Kindle Fires. In the future it would be nice if they offered an ad sponsored version for a little less money like they have done with the eInk Kindles. If the consumer has no choice between an ad sponsored and an ad free Kindle, that would be a problem.
