I'm having issues downloading magazines onto my Kindle Fire. When I go to the store, it doesn't let me download the magazine. It says I need to download the latest update for the Kindle Fire. I have done this three separate times with no avail. I am positive I have the most recent system update. I also tried to download the magazine to my computer and then transfer to the Fire. It does not let me open it again. I have also tried to reset it to factory settings and nothing. Any suggestions?

To see which System Version you're running:
Touch the gear/More/Device (you might have to scroll to see device)
Mine shows 6.2.1

Which mags are you trying to DL? The Fire has a preference for App-based subscriptions like for The New Yorker. It still lets me look at my non-Fire Smithsonians, though.

Same here unfortunate problem for those of us who just got the fire, but amazon will fix soon. They wanna make money hays the fire is priced at less than it costs to make so they'll be quick to fix problems that prevent them from making money.

Btw 6.2.1 and it says not updated in the newstand a lot of Pol have this prob

Same problem w/ DL mags. I'm pretty technical and have updated and confirmed update. Hopefully when a fix is available, I'll get an email now that I posted here.

But still nobody will say what type of subscription or app...they're trying to get. Just as a test, I started a 14-day trial of Backwoods Home and it downloaded fine. This is a regular Kindle subscription that I could also put on an eink Kindle. There are a bunch of free apps listed on the right side of the Newsstand page, but these are for print subscribers to get an interactive digital copy on their Fires. None of them are mags to which I subscribe, but I did get an app from the list called 'mysubs' and it downloaded fine.

I trust you guys have all synced and looked in your app cloud.

I had the same problem-everything was upgraded, but I still couldn't purchase the magazine. The two magazines that I was trying to buy were Reminisce and DYI-they were not apps. Just tried again this morning and it worked! Did not have to do anything special. Definitely a glitch with amazon. Hopefully the rest of you will have no problem now.

I have been trying to download popular science and it tells me update needed. I have verified the software is 6.2.1 and tried factory restore as well.

Same problem (tried to download Maxim on new Kindle last night); spoke to Amazon customer service late last PM. They were aware and were trying to fix. Said "soon" was I asked about timing. Was able to download the magazine this AM. Suggest you try it now.

I want to get a magazine subscription (Real Simple) on my Kindle fire. How do I order it on Amazon web site & have it appear on Kindle? I don't want the paper magazine.

I have Real Simple. The tablet edition comes with the paper'd have to contact the Real Simple peopel to see if you can get *just* the tablet edition. To download the magazine you must install the Real Simple app on the Fire. From there you can download any issue available since the Fire was least that's how it has worked for me. I've had a print subscription to Real Simple for several years and I installed the app after I got the Fire last Christmas. It is nice being able to read the magazine on my Fire!
eta: the Real Simple app is free in the Amazon android app store.

I'm going to try with an existing magazine subscription. I am trying to download the Better Homes & Garden app, which says it's free, but when I go to download it, they ask for money - help!
