I got a new kindle 8.9 for Christmas and I love it!!! I have noticed something and I'm not sure if I have a defective kindle. I'm not able to charge to 100%...it stops charging around 70 or 80%...I have been charging using my iphone usb adapter.... I did order the amazon one to see if that helps...I read in another post the possibility of a cold room being a issue.. has anyone heard officially if this is a widespread issue... should I return my kindle?

S. Prewitt says:
Wait until you use the standard wall adapter (5 volts, 1.8 amps), if that works then you don't have a problem.

i dont have a light that lights up when i charge..just the battery symbol turns green in the upper corner when charging..and ive been going into the drop down menu in devices.and it lets me know if its charging there...and i have been having the same issue..sometimes it charges and sometimes not..ive noticed if i try to charge it when the battery percent is above 70 percent it wont charge..but if its below that, it will..i read that there are some issues with the batteries not charging above 70 if the room is below 60 degrees..mine is..i live in the mountains..haha..so i dont know if that is my problem..im not sure what to do either..i was just curious if this is a problem that everyone is having or if its just my kindle.trying to figure out if i need to return :)

The newer Kindle Fire models do not have a changing light. If on, the battery icon is green and fluctuates while charging.

The battery light in the upper right corner never gets green on my kindle fire. Anyway, I called amazon and they are sending me a powerfast adapter. It doesnt seem like that will fix my issue but i am going to try their suggestion.

I had the same problem. I tried charging using different cables, through usb and a car charger, and the fast AC charger and always the same behavior. I spoke with CS and they sent me a replacement unit and I no longer have the problem.

Good day: What replacement unit? Charger or tablet?
Thanks Jerry

Alan says:
My tablet was defective and Amazon replaced that for me. The charger works perfectly.

Thanks: The reason I ask is that my tab does not charge and the connector looks OK.
