Hey guys, I own, what I think is the first Kindle Fire (not sure if that has any barring on this) and I can't find the Netflix app at all in the kindle store. I've downloaded it through amazon on my computer but it won't show up on my cloud, and syncing does nothing. Any ideas??

You can't download apps through your computer, you have to download to your Fire via Wi-Fi.

Where did you find the Netflix app that you downloaded to your computer?

Here's the app that's in the Amazon app store:

I'm not sure what you mean, since you mentioned your computer. Contact customer service for assistance.

Blake, check with customer service. Other people have posted here about Netflix not working on the original Fire. I think, but I'm not sure, that the newest version of Netflix requires Android 4+.

Just finished talking to customer service, and there's no way to get netflix if you're using the original fire. Real bummer there.

Is it not impossible for Amazon to offer the latest version that still supported the 1st Gen Fire? Someone upgraded to a Fire HD and passed me their old Fire. I duly wiped it and registered it on my Amazon account, only to find Netflix gone from the app store (as seen from the device). It was installed and usable before I wiped. Just give us the newest compatible version, at least.

EDIT: The Product Description says "Netflix playback is supported on Android 2.2, 2.3, 3.x and 4.x devices." though the Technical Details says "Minimum Operating System: Android 4.0"

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade to me! :)

You need to contact customer service at Netflix. I spoke to them and they stated that the app should still work on the original Fires. They asked that people contact them for assistance.

If Netflix doesn't supply the old app to Amazon, they can't offer it. They just sell apps, they don't control them.

The things that REALLY bugs me about this is that the Netflix app used to be there for us original Kindle Fire users. Now, it is just simply gone? Trying to pull my teeth out to buy an hardware upgrade I don't need? LOL Nice try.

Netflix changed the app, not Amazon.

The current version released by Netflix no longer supports android 2.3 (gingerbread) which is what the original Fire was based on. Subsequent Fire models are based on later versions of android.

I think the problem is that Amazon only seems to allow one version of a program at a time. Thus only the current version of Netflix is available and it doesn't support GB and older devices. Google Play, however, allows multiple versions to be tied to the same app listing and will install the correct one for your version of Android. There is a bunch of finger pointing between Amazon and Netflix over who is in the wrong here. The easiest fix is for Netflix to submit a new app listing just for the original Fire and it will be problem solved. It has been done for many other apps already. For some reason Netflix isn't doing this.

I've got the same problem with my first gen Kindle Fire. I talked to customer support at Netflix and they said when they updated their software for the new Fire HD, that it no longer supports the older Kindle Fire. They told me that they have had complaints about it and they are looking into it but they did not give me a time table of when the update will be available if at all. At this point the best way to get Netflix for your Kindle Fire is to try and find a 3rd party web site that has the older version of Netflix for the android. If I find one i'll post it.
