Since my pc died, I have been using my Kindle fire hd 8.9 exclusively to read, access internet, play games, and email. This has been so successful that I have decided to take my time about replacing my pc. My only problem so far has been inability to print. I've perused the Amazon app store with intent to purchase a kindle printer app, but reviews seem to indicate a problem with all of them. I'm now considering a purchase of a kindle fire HDX 8.9 and giving my mom my current kindle fire HD as a mother's' day present so she can have her own access to email, internet and ebooks. But she will definitely want to print things, so I'm asking if anyone has found an easy and stress-free printing app that I can use with these 2 kindles to connect with my wireless printer. Thanks.

A LOT depends upon WHICH wireless printer you have. Go to the printer's website and see if they offer an app for their device. Many do and their tech support are trained on helping you set their app up.

I'm asking them if they have a Kindle fire printing app to download on kindle device? If so, I have a Kodak printer and they no longer manufacture printers so I don't know if they still have customer support for them, but I will try. Thanks.

If your printer is so old that the manufacturer isn't making them anymore, then I'd bet there is no app. Also, is your current printer wireless (can you print without having your PC directly connected to it, over your wifi network)? If it's not wireless, then it most likely can't be used with the Kindle Fire.

Yes to wireless (see original post, last line.) Printer is only a year old - Kodak got out of the printer business right after I bought mine. Lucky me. No gripes with printer though. Thanks.

Sorry, I read the post too quickly and missed the wireless part. (-:

If they still have a web page, I'd search that for information about an app for wireless printing. Good luck!

You need to ask them for an Android app. You will also have to uncheck a setting that allows 3rd party apps to be installed. That should be under settings on your Fires.

Ok, now I'm really confused! I have a wireless printer already connected to my home wifi network. It prints just fine, wirelessly, from my (now) dead pc. I assumed that I could just download one of the multitude of printing apps from the Amazon kindle app store to my Kindles, which are also currently connected to my WiFi network. I was asking advice on which would be most reliable, as reviews in the app store seem to have problems with them all. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Are you saying none of them are useable?

as vjvl51 pointed out it all depends on which printer you have. the wireless printers work by how it was coded to "talk" with other devices and the apps that are needed to correctly "talk back". that's why some apps may work fine with one printer and not with others. that's also why reviews for wireless printer apps vary. one review may say it's their best app for printing, while another reviewer says it's worthless. it's only because it was coded to talk a certain way that isn't compatible with every printer. you'll want to check each app for a list of brands it was made to work with.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question.

If I understand what you want, you can track books read, books currently reading, a books to be read with the app Goodreads. However your books will not be stored in the app.

since your question has nothing to do with the title of this thread, to get the best response you should find a thread with a similar topic (i.e. collections) or start a new thread.

as for the answer, the hd does not have the ability to store collections, like the ereaders do. but there are some apps (try a search for book collections) in the app store, or there are sites like Calibre ( that are excellent for sorting and organizing your books.
