Reregister my kindle

I am following all the instructions to reregister my old kindle but msg reads cannot connect yet I am on the wifi.

Can you get to the Kindle Store? Does the wi-fi symbol show as connected?

Linda, if you are sure you are on the internet (testing as Susan suggested), then contact Kindle support.

Click on help at the top and bottom of every Amazon page. Click on the Contact Us button on the right of the next page. Answer the questions and the correct contact info is shown. I suggest using the phone for quickest response.

No, I cannot get into the Kindle store. On the top of my kindle right top - it shows the bars and a little box that says wifi. That's why I thought I was connected, but perhaps not. Not sure why it's not connecting to my wifi as this is the same one I use for my Kindle fire.

Linda, try a power cycle of your router. Just pull the power cord for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Wait for a couple of minutes and then try to reconnect.

While you are waiting, do a hard reset of your Kindle. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (time it). If the Kindle doesn't restart, press the power button one more time to restart. Wait until the home screen is fully loaded which may take a few minutes.

At any rate, that didn't work either. Called Kindle support and within 3 minutes they re-registered my old kindle and all is well.
