We have a new, free software update available for your Kindle Touch that you can manually download from our help pages: http://www.amazon.com/kindlesoftwareupdates

We will be delivering this update over Wi-Fi in the coming weeks.

New features in this update include:
* Language Support: Customize your Kindle with the language you prefer: English (US and UK), German, French, Spanish, Italian, or Brazilian Portuguese.

* Kindle Format 8: Formatting and layout improvements make Kindle books look even better.

* Portrait and Landscape Mode: Switch between portrait and landscape orientation in books and PDFs to read maps, graphs, and tables more easily.

* Instant Translations: Tap any word or highlight a section to instantly translate into other languages, including Spanish, Japanese, and more. Translations by Bing Translator.

* Wi-Fi Enhancements: Connect your Kindle Touch to Wi-Fi with WPS and select WPA2 Enterprise networks.

* Read-to-Me With Text-to-Speech: Have Kindle read English-language content out loud to you, now including summaries of newspaper and magazine articles when available from the publisher.

* More Sharing Options: Tell others what you're reading on Facebook or Twitter from anywhere within a book - just tap to share a link along with your comments.

* Onscreen Keyboard Suggestions: Search and shop faster with automatic word suggestions as you type.

Any chance we will be seeing a new update on the Kindle 4 Non-Touch?

The language support and the ability to use both portrait and landscape orientations are great additions. I'm sure that many users will appreciate all of the improvements.

Amazon appears to have fixed the problem of not being able to highlight across pages. Yay!

Also, translating foreign words into English is a nice new feature. I highlighted a foreign word, and got an English translation, without having to input what language it was in. When I highlighted a word that it didn't know, it gave me the opportunity to choose the language, including even Chinese and Japanese.

Thanks for the landscape... will play with it a bit. For 5.1.1 it would be super to just use the built in sensors and rotate based on position of the reader. (We know you can!)

Wow, love the new home screen! Way easier to know where to tap.
And could we filter by type of content before? Awesome addition.

Also "Go To" is done with a much better layout that is more usable. All the major options right there.

So glad to see the return of Wikipedia search under "More" with scrollable content in the pop-up...genius.

Anyone else think the whole thing is faster too?

What a great update!

Wow, love the new LANDSCAPE mode on the Kindle Touch update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, those who returned their devices because it didn't have landscape mode...............you should have just been a little patient. Also, love the new look of my Collections, and it can also change to 5 or 6 different languages...............Thanks Amazon!!!

I would think so, but when i called and asked she didn't know if I would lose my information. I don't want to upload it and then lose it all, although I plan on calling and seeing if a higher tech might be able to help me more if I don't get a response in the forum... LOL i still don't know how the discussions work, i just checked the email me option.

Mine has always shown how many were in the collection.

how do i use the landscape feature?

CCH says:
It is my understanding that everything will be saved in the Cloud, and you shouldn't lose it. But hopefully you can speak with another tech.

It always showed a number in parenthesis before after each Collection, now it shows the number of "items" under each Collection :)

CCH says:
If you open a book, newspaper, etc. tap the top of the page and menu comes up, then select Landscape mode.
