Tink-erbell says:
Performing a hard reset on your Kindle Fire may resolve intermittent issues like a frozen screen, battery issues or trouble downloading content to your Kindle Fire.

To perform a hard reset on your Kindle Fire, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds and then release. After the device has completely turned off, press the power button to restart your Kindle Fire.

If your Kindle Fire is still unresponsive, try charging your Kindle Fire before trying to reset the device again.

Lad, please update what CS say about.
I am thinking of returning it.

Fuzzy says:
Why don't you call them yourself? At least it will document your issue with the Fire. Amazon needs to know about these issues.

I have done the hard reset numerous times, charged for hours, talked to CS and still no resolution. I'm still waiting for them to call me back. However, I have absolutely no intention of returning it. If need be, they'll ship me a replacement. It must have been some issue with the update. Prior to that, it was absolutely beautiful. Amy, I'll let you know as soon as I hear. Apparently, it's a common issue and showing up in quite a few places on the boards. I'm sure we'll resolve it...

I haven't been able to find on my fire for it to read to me. Does it read to you like the kindle 3?

You can reach Kindle CS here, Amy:

http://www.amazon.com/kindlesupport

There's a Contact Us button on the right.

Waiting to speak with a supervisor. Charge shows full (green light). They're saying they can ship me a new one, but I won't receive it until November 27th or 28th at the earliest! Not happy!

Hmmm sounds like bad customer service turnaround!

This is why I don't like to be on the bleeding edge of technology. I'll wait for the initial bugs to be worked out.

Amy,
I called my local Best Buy. They have them in stock and agreed to hold one for me, so I'm headed there to pick it up. Much better than waiting until Amazon can ship one to me at the end of the month. I've owned every Kindle ever made and this is sad, because I ordered mine on day 1. Seems they would have put some aside for possible lemon replacements, but apparently not. I've always had excellent service from Amazon, but this seems an example of poor planning at best...

CS told me that they will ship an replacement to me asap (the guy cann't get the shipping date right away). it seems that they are in back order. I have a kindle reader before, love it. I also have ipad2, love it too. Thought kindle fire will be a pleasant addition to play/read/watch. :-) How can you get them to replace you one from BB?

Looks like I got a bum Kindle also. Started up fine, but after the update, it immediately goes to the "kindle fire" page and will not budge. Charged, did the hard restart and still nothing. Called CS and they don't have any idea how to fix it. Even though it is charged and is showing a green light, she asked me to charge it for another hour and we are going to try the hard restart again. She is calling me back in an hour.

I am having the same issue with my Fire. I turned it on, connected to wi-fi, and ran the update. I think it rebooted... Now it won't let me slide the unlock on the screensaver. CS said she will call me back in THREE hours after it is fully charged. The light is green now, and I tried yet another hard reset. No luck.

Got a call back from CS and they can't figure out how to unfreeze my Kindle Fire. She is sending me another one but it won't get here until November 22nd. Trying real hard not to use profanity!

Wow, this is disheartening. Do you have to do the update? Based on what I'm reading here, the problem started with the update.

I feel bad for you guys. Nothing worse than getting a new gadget to find it doesn't work (especially for those of you who have been waiting so long). Maybe CS will have some good news for you soon.

Mine is coming tomorrow; I've got my fingers crossed.

MJ
