Where Do Downloads Go?

I have tried downloading files when I am at a WiFi location but they are usually unsuccessful. Why is this? And if they are successful where do they show up when I connect the Kindle Fire to my computer to transfer them? Is there a secret to successful downloading?

Patricia, what type of files are you downloading? Books would show up on the carousel. Videos would show up in the Video / Library tab.

There is no need to use the computer if you are downloading directly to your Fire.

Some public wi fi throttles uploading and downloading to save bandwidth. If you are downloading items from the internet (i.e. not amazon digital content), it will show up in the "downloads" folder most of the time on the Fire. I use ES File Explorer as my file manager to help me more easily locate stuff I download.

I can't help you with transfer, but I know where they hide. Touch Web, if you're not in a wifi area, you'll need to touch Cancel in the pop-up box. Then touch the menu icon at the bottom of the web page and then 'downloads' and there will be a list of the items you successfully downloaded.

Thank you! That helps. Now I have to figure out how to get them transferred to my computer.

I'm downloading Internet files. Books from Amazon show up just fine.

Patricia, what format are those files? PDF or DOC or ZIP or ...?

I downloaded ES File Explorer and have downloaded a file which shows up in the ES download directory. However, it doesn't appear anywhere else and I can't transfer it to my laptop. I also can't delete partial downloads from ES. I like that I can see the downloads but I'd sure like to be able to transfer or edit them!
