I recently got my kindle fire and was looking for an external keyboard, is there? If so, can I have a link?

There's no way to connect an external keyboard to any Kindle.

I think your missing the whole point of a tablet. If you want a real keyboard buy a laptop.

I hope they come out with an external keyboard. That would be the difference between a toy and completely awesome. And to all the people saying "just get a netbook", I have a netbook - and I'm not allowed to take it to work, but a tablet is ok. Their rules not mine. Don't bother telling me how dumb that is. With a keyboard I could remote to my Pc and do anything I needed.

Might look at an aneroid tablet just for this.

It's not that wanting an external keyboard with a tablet is dumb. I use one with my iPad 2 all the time.

It's that buying a Fire when you know you want an external keyboard is dumb, when the fact there is no way to connect one, and therefore none available, is so obvious.

Luckily Amazon protects us from ourselves, by offering their 30-day, no-questions-need-be-answered return policy.

Do you like using the external keyboard with the iPad 2? I considered getting one for my iPad 2 but $70 was just to much to spend for something that I really wouldn't use that much. If I really needed to do any long typing I would just use my laptop.

I use my iPad a lot in meetings and workgroups, taking notes, annotating, taking pictures of easels and chalkboards that I integrate with my handwritten notes using Notability, presenting (I have the VGA and HDMI attachments for the iPad, and use QuickOffice for my PowerPoint presentations). The keyboard rocks for note taking, and of course holds the iPad at a perfect angle so the whole think looks a lot like a MacBook Air.

I would never have considered a 7" model as my primary tablet; just too small.

I like my Kindle Fire, keyboard or no. It's just that - as I've searched through apps and found ways to increase its functionality, I've discovered ways to make it very powerful. At this point, if I could attach an external keyboard to my Kindle Fire, I would never need to purchase another tablet, netbook, or laptop.

I didn't buy the Kindle Fire expecting to need or want an external keyboard. It's just that it's a much more powerful device than I anticipated, and is pretty much owning the iPad in almost every way.

I think most people are missing the potential that this thing has through virtual upgrades.

All I need now is a keyboard.

What upgrades are you referring to? I love my Kindle Fire & would love to know how I can use it to the best of its ability.

I agree. I'm logging into my corporate email and cloud, logging into the laptop through a remote connection (splashtop) taking notes on evernote, and reading books and playing games on way home. Fits in my small purse and makes it possible for me to leave my big clunky work laptop at home. Id love a keyboard! Or at least "swype" like I have on my android phone so at least I can type faster on the screen. For $200 bucks this little bugger is giving me so much more in value than I expected!

I love banging my fingers against a hard surface. This is idiotic not to have an real keyboard option.

The Kindle Fire HD has bluetooth and you can pair a bluetooth keyboard with it. The original Fire did not have bluetooth so could not do this. I would be interested in what bluetooth keyboards HD users have used.

I just bought a Kindle Fire for my daughter that is in collage and saw that Amazon has some keypads for a 7" tablet "Protective Leather Case + Mini USB Keyboard for 7 inch 7" Tablet PC Black" has anyone tried this case?

At the time this post was written, the original Kindle Fire was the only one available. It does not have Bluetooth.
