The books are coded to the devices and apps

Go to http://amazon.com/myk and send the books to your registered app.

Scott, the publishers/authors are the ones that insisted on the DRM protection. Do your research and learn how things work before getting upset. Just go to your account (as Nospin said) and re-download.

OK, thanks for sharing.

My turn for sharing. I decided not to use Tucks Medicated Hemorrhoid Cooling Pads anymore and I am now using Mayinglong Musk Hemorrhoids Ointment Cream. It smells so much fresher for longer periods of time and the cream is just better all around.

Just Peachy says:
I guess it's also your right to not educate yourself about how to load the books to the app.

I own these mobi books. I did not purchase them through Amazon. Amazon is not the only source for ebooks?

As far as I can tell I can only sync books bought form Amazon into the Windows8 Kindle viewer? Not books I own separate from Amazon.

Scott

But, Jazzy, you miss the point. Surely you're not going to buy Mayinglong Musk Cream from Amazon, right? You're supposed to announce that to all of us, just like Scott did.

Have you contacted Kindle support for their assistance?

Jazzy_Jeff says:
If you purchased non DRMd books then they can be easily converted to work with pretty much any other e-book reader. If you have to use a Kindle app for whatever reason then you should be able to send the books to your Kindle email address and have them added to your Amazon account that way. Not sure why you think we care where you buy your books from though.

Scott - Download Kindle for PC and use that instead. Place the .mobi books in the folder that holds the Kindle for PC books.

Of course I am. I have Prime shipping and sometimes I need it delivered same day when a really nasty flare up occurs.

The Kindle app is for use with Amazon purchases or for books sent to the cloud.

You have the option of using whatever ereader the source of the books recommends or sending the books to your kindle email address and they will then be in your archive.

Why don't you use the app on your PC that you got your mobi books from?

Well, since you're never buying ebooks or books from Amazon.com again, I guess it's time to delete your Amazon account, so long.

I am sure this is an old question but I am not very techy. I had an android device that crashed. I have a new android device that I downloaded the kindle app to. I am trying to get all of my books to the new device. I registered the device to my amazon account and sync'd. The books are showing in the kindle library but not on the device library. I can't open any of the books without an internet connection...what am I doing wrong?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 10, 2014 10:03:12 AM PST
You have to download the books to the device. You can turn on the wi-fi and download them one by one to the device.

Sounds to me like you are not buying many books from Amazon to begin with.

The "Read Personal Documents" feature is no longer listed as something that any of the PC apps (Win7/XP, Win 8, MAC or Cloud) have. Right now it is only Kindle's, Fire's, and iOS apps. Nothing else.

Jazzy_Jeff says:
I really don't know what the big deal is. If the books are not DRM protected they can be converted to use on any other book app that supports them. I have quite a few books without DRM and I don't have any problems using them on any device or computer I want.
