What to do if Kindle Fire HD is lost (NOT STOLEN)

I have misplaced my Kindle Fire HD. Now, it does sometimes make a noise when it automatically updates, so, just like how I can call my cell phone, is there any way to make it make that noise again with my computer or phone?

Now, I am 99% sure it's in my house. I had in my house last. No one's broken in or anything. I just can't find it. Everywhere I look, it's always about locking it if it were stolen. But I'm certain it's not stolen.

If you have your device set for audible notifications, and Wi-Fi is connected, all you have to do is send something to download on the device and listen for the notification sound. It's probably going to take a lot of downloads until you hear that notification sound, if you hear it at all.

It might be better for you just to deregister it while it's missing, but deregistering it will remove all the content.

I think I'll try sending things to download, because deregistering it seems kinda pointless if I'm 99% sure it's not stolen. There's been no report of burglars in my area, I had it in my house moments before I lost it, I trust my family, so there's no need for that.

Good luck. I hope you left Wi-Fi connected. Otherwise, my suggestion won't work because the downloads will just queue until Wi-Fi is connected.

Time for a thorough house-cleaning. As in: remove all the sofa cushions, wash the covers, vacuum the inside of the frame, move all the furniture (in every room) away from the walls so you can sweep/vacuum behind them.

Remove all the books from the cases, dust both books & cases, replace books. Clear that "hotspot" where all the papers pile up.

1) You'll be too busy to miss your Fire.
2) Your house will be deep-cleaned.
3) You might FIND the Fire.

ETA: Rotate all the mattresses (might be caught between the headboard/frame & wall). Etc...
