On a paperwhite you select Home, then Menu (far right, three vertical lines), then Settings, then Menu again, then Device Info and you geta popup box with the MAC address, serial number, network capability, firmware version and available space.

And you will notice that not everyone got it from the abbreviated explanation so I expanded and added a bit more info as well, but regardless of that are you that small a person that you waste your time posting useless snide criticism of others trying to help? Grow up or just troll away.

Sorry, your assumption is wrong. I saw it was an old thread, but I also saw some had not understood the abbreviated answer and as it still comes up high in the search parameters and people are still buying Kindles I decided it worth expanding the idea. I despise trolls who have nothing better to do than post criticisms of other posters in a failing attempt to make themselves feel superior. I did expect you to miss that my response to you was rhetorical though. LOL

Carlos: There is no serial number for an app. Only hardware devices have serial numbers.

Edit: If you want to find which version of the Kindle for PC app that you have, read on. Open the app and then click on the Help link in the menu and then click on the About Kindle. The version number will show in the small window that appears.

I dropped my kindle and the display doesn't work anymore ( just see a while screen). However, I am using the kindle app on my ipad and pc. IS there a way I can still find out the kindle serial number through my amazon account? Thanks!

If you registered your Kindle when you first got it you can go to your Amazon.com account, go to Manage Your Content and Devices and then to Manage Your Devices and it will have your serial number listed with the Kindle.

Connect the Kindle into the PC via cable
Right click and choose Properties option
Then press Hardware tab, click on Properties at the bottom.
Press the Details tab and under the propety just look for PARENT
Then you will see the serial number starting with B00****
