I was reading in bed last night and everything was fine when I quit for the night no notices I needed to recharge the Kindle Fire or anything. This morning I tried to read my Kindle Fire and no lights show even after I plugged it into charge I cannot get thoue screen to light up or the green or orange lights so far. I have left it plugged in for now to see if this helps after awhile. Anyone have any ideas or has this happened to you????? HELP Please I love my kindle and have tons of books on it to read yet.

Pris - Try rebooting it.

TO REBOOT YOUR KINDLE FIRE:
Unplug the Fire.
Hold the power button in for a full 30 seconds (count them).
Press the power button again to turn it back on.
The "kindle fire" screen will appear for a couple of minutes while it's coming back on.

Are you charging it with a wall charger or via usb? It can take 12 hours to charge it via usb.

I am charging with a wall charger. I just now found a solution though. It told me after I tried to contact Kindle Help on here to reset it to hold the button in 20 seconds after unplugging it from the charger then release it. Then to hold the button in two seconds to reset it. I am so glad it worked so am posting it for others here since I was just sure my kindle wasn't going to work again and I didn't have the money to buy another one as I had bought my huband one for Christmas so we both have them now. Thanks so much I do appreciate you answering so much. So many books and no kindle was an awful thought .

Thanks pineapple that worked but it still seems to be dying on me now with no to charge it. It used to tell me to charge it before it died. Hope my kindle fire isn't getting ready to give out for good. I got it Christmas before. last.

I bought 2 kindle fires for my kids on 12/20/12 (17 months ago do we have a pattern here?) Now they are both dead no lights no way to charge. Anyone have a solution?

Cassie Anne says:
Did you buy those in December 2012 or 17 months ago? If the former, they're still under warranty.

Contact Kindle CS by clicking Help at the top of the page, then the orange Contact Us button on the right. I'd recommend live chat or having them call you.

My mistake it was December 2011. I will contact Kindle, thanks for your reply.

Cassie Anne says:
Did you buy an extended warranty? If you bought them in December 2011, Amazon's standard one-year warranty expired in December 2012.

Sice my kindle has been shutting down on a regular basis, I'm afraid at some point it will not be recoverable. I understand that amazon has a record of all books that I've bought and they would be able to reload to my new device. Who do i contact for that request?

http://www.amazon.com/mycd

All your digital book purchases from Amazon should be listed there and that page is also where you would select the book(s) you want to download to a new device.

Miss Carol says:
You register the new device to your account and reload it yourself, however. Amazon does not do that for you. All the books you've bought will be listed in the cloud of the new device after it's registered - just download from there.
